[Compiz] [Bug 1442728] Re: Chromium fullscreen should be unredirected by default

2016-05-18 Thread Martin Pitt
Hello the-unconventional, or anyone else affected,

Accepted compiz into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/1:0.9.11.3+14.04.20160425-0ubuntu1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance!

** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu Trusty)
   Status: Confirmed => Fix Committed

** Tags added: verification-needed

[Compiz] [Bug 1366351] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke()

I'm being haunted by this for two days now, since I use my laptop's
internal display (conference). This never happens at home with the
external monitor. It crashes every few minutes and is unbearable; I
found that disabling multiple workspaces helps a lot to calm it down.

[Compiz] [Bug 1063617] Re: 1:0.9.8+bzr3319-0ubuntu1 regression: keeps setting gsettings keys to wrong values

2014-05-20 Thread Martin Pitt
I enabled the PPA, upgraded, disabled the gsettings calls in my
session script (workaround for this bug) and restarted my session five
times. So far all of my keyboard and the auto-raise settings are still
working. Many thanks Lukas!

I'll report here if I see this happen again with this PPA version.

 For information, the problem for me seems to have completely disappeared

 Nota Bene: it was not a clean install, but an upgrade of an existing 12.10.
 Conditions where the problem does show up seem to be rather obscure...

Nack, I just hit it again on current 13.04 this morning.

[Compiz] [Bug 1063617] [NEW] 1:0.9.8+bzr3319-0ubuntu1 regression: keeps setting gsettings keys to wrong values

2012-10-08 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug reported:

Since version 1:0.9.8+bzr3319-0ubuntu1, compiz/unity keeps messing up my
gsettings (keybindings and WM prefs). This was already covered in bug
1042041, but the change there mostly caused the bug to happen
consistently now.

At every session startup I have a script to fix my settings like this:

--- 8
gsettings reset org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences auto-raise
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings lower ['Altb']
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings maximize ['SuperUp']
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings unmaximize ['SuperDown']
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences focus-mode sloppy
--- 8

But after restarting compiz, it changes the settings to:

--- 8
$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences auto-raise
true
$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings lower
['disabled']
$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings maximize
['ControlPrimarySuperUp']
$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings unmaximize
['ControlPrimarySuperDown']
$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences focus-mode
'click'
--- 8

I tried to move away /usr/bin/session-migration, that does not change
anything, so it's not that script.

[Compiz] [Bug 1063617] Re: 1:0.9.8+bzr3319-0ubuntu1 regression: keeps setting gsettings keys to wrong values

2012-10-08 Thread Martin Pitt
I disabled all *.convert files in /usr/share/GConf/gsettings and
restarted again. This caused org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences auto-
raise to now remain on false, so it seems this key is affected by the
gconf migration. This is handled by wm-schemas.convert:

auto-raise = /apps/metacity/general/auto_raise

However, the gconf value is correct:

$ gconftool -g /apps/metacity/general/auto_raise
false

All other keys have the same wrong default value still, so for the
keybindings and focus values it's compiz itself which apparently resets
the values to their schema defaults on every startup?

[Compiz] [Bug 1063617] Re: 1:0.9.8+bzr3319-0ubuntu1 regression: keeps setting gsettings keys to wrong values

2012-10-08 Thread Martin Pitt
I tried this with a freshly created user account. After the first
startup ever, the settings are like this:

test@donald:~$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences auto-raise
false
test@donald:~$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings lower
@as []
test@donald:~$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings maximize
['SuperUp', 'PrimarySuperUp', 'PrimaryAltKP_5']
test@donald:~$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings unmaximize
['SuperDown', 'AltF5', 'PrimarySuperDown']
test@donald:~$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences focus-mode
'click'

I. e. auto-raise is correct, the lower keybindings is an empty array
instead of ['disabled'], and the other keys are as expected. Now I run
the gsettings set ... stuff as in the description. After restarting
the session, compiz does the same thing as for me: it changes the
gsettings to the values that I showed in the description, except that
it keeps auto-raise to false.

However, what's really curious is that my originally configured
keybindings, such as Super-Down, as well as sloppy focus still actually
work, even though the current gsettings say otherwise! This is only the
case for the fresh user account, not for my real account (where the
gsettings match the actual behaviour).

[Compiz] [Bug 1063617] Re: 1:0.9.8+bzr3319-0ubuntu1 regression: keeps setting gsettings keys to wrong values

2012-10-08 Thread Martin Pitt
If I restart the test user session again, the focus and keybinding
gsettings keys are unchanged since the second session, but now the
behaviour matches the gsettings again, i. e. the
'ControlPrimarySuperUp' keybindings, disabled lower binding, and
click-to-focus. I also now have auto-raise set to true.

This sounds like compiz would first read gsettings, then configure
itself according to them, and only afterwards change the gsettings to
these values?

Also, it demonstrates that this bug is 100% reproducible with a fresh
user account, and not special to mine.

[Compiz] [Bug 1042041] Re: 1:0.9.8+bzr3319-0ubuntu1 regression: keeps setting gsettings keys to wrong values

2012-08-28 Thread Martin Pitt
After this morning's login, it's back. It set

  org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences auto-raise true

to true again, although I never set that. Yesterday I reset the key,
so that it was definitively not in my ~/.config/dconf/.

It also set the maximize/unmaximize keys back from my custom
Super+Up/Down to the default:

org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings maximize ['ControlPrimarySuperUp']
org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings unmaximize ['ControlPrimarySuperDown']

I checked in dconf-editor, the keys are set in ~/.config/dconf, they did
not get reset to the default.

Finally it keeps deleting my keybinding for

  org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings lower ['disabled']

when I set it back to Alt+B (for the umpteenth time) in control, center,
this is how it should be:

  org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings lower ['Altb']

Please note that the schema default is [], not ['disabled'], so once
again it invents this disabled value or gets it from another migration
source.

Where are these values copied or generated from at startup? I might have
some other settings somewhere which did not affect compiz versions prior
to 1:0.9.8+bzr3319-0ubuntu1, but now keep messing up my settings.

[Compiz] [Bug 1042041] [NEW] 1:0.9.8+bzr3319-0ubuntu1 regression: wrong auto-raise, cannot be disabled

2012-08-26 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug reported:

I have configured compiz to do sloppy focus-follows-mouse without
autoraise. Until Friday this was working fine, but after the weekend's
dist-upgrades, which included compiz 1:0.9.8+bzr3319-0ubuntu2 (from
1:0.9.8+bzr3249-0ubuntu4), windows now auto-raise when the mouse pointer
is in them.

This does not seem to be an issue in the gsettings migration, as the
settings look fine:

$ gsettings list-recursively|egrep 'raise|focus'
org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences auto-raise false
org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences auto-raise-delay 1000
org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences focus-mode 'sloppy'
org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences focus-new-windows 'smart'
org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences raise-on-click true
org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings raise ['disabled']
org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings raise-or-lower @as []

After restarting compiz/unity again, it works now. Lots of other things
are broken (Ctrl+Alt+T, Windows+Up/Down, etc.), but at least this
unnerving thing seems to have been an one-time issue.

2012-06-12 Thread Martin Pitt
Tentatively reassigning to libgdu, as this seems complete and valid:

#5  0x7fb168d2e58b in get_device_for_device_file
(device_file=0x375a880 /dev/sdb) at
/build/buildd/unity-5.12/plugins/unityshell/src/DeviceLauncherIcon.cpp:497

and the frames on top of that then have the error with an inconsistent
pool.

oneiric final, so you'll see the bug in a fresh install).

 @Martin: The fix does not appear to be in apt, or at least I'm not
 getting it when I run apt-get. What should I see when I run compiz
 --version if I have the update?

This:

$ dpkg -s compiz|grep ^Version
Version: 1:0.9.6+bzr20110929-0ubuntu5

compiz --version isn't sufficient.

[Compiz] [Bug 824099] Re: Max GL texture size can break multi-head

2011-09-28 Thread Martin Pitt
This is a rather big and not yet widely tested patch, but the only
option we have right now to prevent people from breaking their screen
config, so we need to take it. The error prone bits are in the separate
callout, so the impact of bugs there is indeed rather limited.

Thanks for working on this, Chris!
