[Compiz] [Bug 2055242] [NEW] compiz build-depends on libxorg-gtest-dev, removed in Debian unstable
Public bug reported: The compiz package in Ubuntu build-depends on libxorg-gtest-dev, but xorg-gtest was removed from Debian unstable a year ago. The compiz package in Debian has a higher epoch but is a lower upstream version number for whatever reason. It's possible compiz could be merged from Debian to fix this issue; or cherry pick a fix for this build- dependency. Otherwise, we should probably force-sync the Debian version. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Critical Status: Triaged ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2055242 Title: compiz build-depends on libxorg-gtest-dev, removed in Debian unstable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/2055242/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 1778817] Re: release upgrade from xenial to bionic desktop: screen locks itself, password to unlock fails
The failure is because pam_unix depends on libcrypt, and libcrypt is part of glibc, and compiz doesn't otherwise have libcrypt loaded into memory, and libcrypt has a tight versioned dependency on the corresponding version of libc itself (requires symbol GLIBC_2.25). So when dlopen() tries to load libcrypt from disk, because compiz is doing it wrong, it can't find the symbols. ** Also affects: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1778817 Title: release upgrade from xenial to bionic desktop: screen locks itself, password to unlock fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1778817/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 1555237] Re: Upgrade from 14.04.4→ 16.04 dies midway taking out the session.
I was able to reproduce this problem in a VM. Running X and compiz under gdb, I find that compiz is dying after the X server is killed with SIGKILL. [Compiz] [Bug 1282900] [NEW] compiz static window switcher no longer displaying window titles after upgrade
Public bug reported: I have my Unity desktop configured to use the static application switcher plugin. After upgrading to compiz 1:0.9.11+14.04.20140218-0ubuntu1 (and related packages) today, and restarting my session, I find that the window switcher no longer displays window titles. This is a major regression - the whole reason I'm using the static switcher is because a thumbnail-based picker is useless for distinguishing between many similar-looking windows! I was going to look at tracking this down in the code, but the previous version I had installed, 1:0.9.10+13.10.20131011-0ubuntu4, has no matching commit in the compiz bzr branch; there are no per-upload tags, and the changelog deltas are inserted on top of a tree that doesn't match what was uploaded. So it's not very practical to track this back to a related commit. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1282900 Title: compiz static window switcher no longer displaying window titles after upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1282900/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 1247277] [NEW] connect/disconnect external monitor causes window positions to be changed
Public bug reported: This is a continuation of bug #763148, which has been marked as resolved. While compiz no longer moves windows between workspaces, it still moves the windows around within each workspace, and in particular tends to wrap windows that are far to the right/bottom over to the left/top. The expected behavior is that, if there is a saved geometry for a window, it's restored; and if the window is off the new window geometry, the window is /shifted/ to fit on the workspace instead of being wrapped. This was working 100% correctly for me as of commit 3646 on lp:~compiz- team/compiz/0.9.9/ back in April, but it almost immediately regressed due to behavior changes in a different plugin and was broken by the time 13.04 released. ** Affects: compiz Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Also affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1247277 Title: connect/disconnect external monitor causes window positions to be changed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1247277/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

My bug #977683 was marked as a duplicate of this one, and definitely is still an issue. [Compiz] [Bug 887260] Re: compiz+unity3d draws 3W more power than metacity+unity2d when idle
I analyze my system's power consumption obsessively with powertop. If bug #917210 had shown up at the time I filed this bug with wake-ups directly attributable to compiz or unity, I'm pretty sure I would have noticed this. Also, as noted in comment #5, i915_enable_rc6 seems to have had a noticable impact on the power consumption when running unity. [Compiz] [Bug 887260] [NEW] compiz+unity3d draws 3W more power than metacity+unity2d when idle
Public bug reported: When running the Ubuntu 3D desktop (with Unity 3D and compiz), my system draws 3W more power when idle than when I run unity2d+metacity. This is a 25% increase in power consumption vs. idle draw with wireless on, and a 33% increase over idle draw with wireless off. This is all when *idle*, i.e., nothing moving around on the screen... so there's no reason for the graphics chip to be drawing this kind of power because there's no 3d rendering that needs to be done. update-manager certainly has no idea about the boundaries between screens in the output (and architecturally, should not). [Compiz] [Bug 359392] Re: [i965] X freezes starting on April 3rd
It would be nice indeed, but some users have gotten the idea that it's appropriate to run apport-collect against bugs unsolicited, and everyone cc:ed on the bug receives notifications of the new attachments.
