[Compiz] [Bug 455241] Re: New windows steal focus

2015-10-13 Thread TomasHnyk
(It is not a workaround per se- that setting affects focus in various
ways that are not always desired, so I myself rather set it to low -
this problem has been less severe since I bought an SSD disk since most
applications now start instantenosly. However, on a rotation harddrive,
this used to drive me crazy)

[Compiz] [Bug 455241] Re: New windows steal focus

2015-10-13 Thread TomasHnyk
Yes, Unity on 15.04. I do not have priviledges to revert a wont fix,
somebody else have to do that.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a lightweight application like gedit.
2. Open an application that starts for a long time (GnuCash on my computer with
7 years of accouting) - may be different on your macihne
3. Before the application from step 2 initializes, switch to application from
step 1 and start using it (i.e. typing in gedit)

What happens:
When the application from step 2 opens, it steals focus, goes to the forground
and starts receiving input that up to that point was receiving application from
step 3

What should happen:
The application from step 2 should open in the background and set its status to
alert (that blue triangle in the launcher in Unity).

There was an old bug that I just made a duplicate of this one (for those

Thanks for fixing this. However, this only escalates bug 1453757 (even
though I am not sure if that is not a regression - I think id did not
use to happen on 14.04).

[Compiz] [Bug 1453757] [NEW] Using grid loses focus when focus follows mouse is enabled

2015-05-11 Thread TomasHnyk
Public bug reported:

How to reproduce:
1. Disable "click to focus" in ccsm
2. open any window, let's say nautilus and move it to the left half of the
screen (so that your mouse cursor is there)
3. Use ctr+super+right to move that window to the right and semi-maximize it

What happens:
1. That window loses focus

What should happen:
1. The window should stay focus until cursor is moved.

I think this used not to happen on 14.04 (I am on 15.04, reproduced with
guest account).

[Compiz] [Bug 714923] Re: Grid plugin: moving a maximized window to the side, window is placed incorrectly

2012-09-04 Thread TomasHnyk
Easier way (for me) to trigger it is using the grid plugin. Hit shortcut
to maximize (I do not know the default, it used to be alt+F10) and then
either grid upper right corner (alt+ctrl+9 on my computer) or grid right
(alt+ctrl6 on my computer). Hitting either of those two latter shortcuts
remedies the situation.

the tested "ordinary users" use shortcuts).

A browser windows is opened, goes into foreground and steals focus from
Liferea (if using Opera as a browser to open links, if Opera is minimized, this
bug does not occur - with Firefox it seems to occur always).

  What should happen:
- the link should open in the background. It did happen with metacity so I
think this is a regression. The use case is skimming all new items, opening
them and then reading them later.
+ the link should open in the background. It did happen with metacity so I
think this is a regression. It also works this way with Gnome Shell. The use
case is skimming all new items, opening them and then reading them later.

Note: this happens only if Focus Prevention Level in Focus & Raise
Behaviour in General Options in ccsm is set to low or off(which is the
default though) - if it is set to normal or higher, this does not occur,
- so maybe it is a compiz thing?

  What should happen:
- the link should open in the background.
+ the link should open in the background. It did happen with metacity so I
think this is a regression. The use case is skimming all new items, opening
them and then reading them later.

Note: this happens only if Focus Prevention Level in Focus & Raise
Behaviour in General Options in ccsm is set to low or off(which is the
default though) - if it is set to normal or higher, this does not occur,
so maybe it is a compiz thing?

[Compiz] [Bug 782758] Re: Liferea opens links in the foreground and steals focus

2011-11-20 Thread TomasHnyk
This is not a problem of Liferea itself, it works fine with Gnome
fallback (metacity I guess) and Gnome-shell (mutter). Hence a problem in
compiz.

** Package changed: liferea (Ubuntu) => compiz (Ubuntu)

** Summary changed:

- Liferea opens links in the foreground and steals focus
+ Liferea opens links in the foreground and loses focus
