[Compiz] [Bug 771495] Re: Ubuntu Classic will not decorate windows on Display :1

2011-06-08 Thread Travis Watkins
Compiz 0.9.x explicitly does not support multiscreen so you'd need to
run compiz on each screen separately. Not sure if we want to do this in
a shell script or something on startup or not, in general things are
moving away from multiscreen.

This is (sadly) by design and is the way menus work in Xorg. The window
manager or toolkit you use doesn't matter, when a menu is open it gets
every event no matter where your mouse pointer is.

[Compiz] [Bug 710271] Re: invisible window border problems

2011-03-04 Thread Travis Watkins
When using unity-window-decorator windows still has this border around
them that prevents the snap and grid plugins from lining windows up on
the edge of the screen. This is with compiz 1:0.9.4-0ubuntu3 (as this is
actually a bug in unity-window-decorator which is a part of compiz I've
also moved the bug there).

2011-02-27 Thread Travis Watkins
This particular bug should not have been happening in maverick as it was
caused by timing issues with moving compiz to the glib mainloop.
However, compiz in natty cannot be backported to maverick anyway because
it is setup to be used with unity and for various other reasons that
cannot be backported.

[Compiz] [Bug 717354] Re: Change Focus Prevention Level to None

I expect windows to never steal focus while typing or otherwise
interacting with another application. The correct solution is what we
have now but with the window stacking matching the focus prevention (ie
stack the new window under the current one if the new one is denied
focus).

I send you an IM when you are signing in to your bank you'll probably

2011-02-04 Thread Travis Watkins
To clarify what is happening here: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap shows
twice as both the server and client know about it but it needs to show a
third time in the list of extensions that can actually be used. Either
something in your port went wrong or you don't have an xorg driver that
matches the new DDX ABI to go along with your new kernel module.

[Compiz] [Bug 579822] Re: Large window size crashes compiz

2011-02-02 Thread Travis Watkins
Gaz, your issue is actually a separate bug and is (most likely) a crash
in your driver. Compiz can't cause your entire session to crash, only
the X server itself and the drivers loaded in to it can do that.

For the original issue, compiz 0.9 (currently in natty) has the ability
to handle these large windows even when your video card/driver cannot
but we currently do not have it enabled by default.

2011-01-20 Thread Travis Watkins
Off the top of my head we use XGrabServer in various places and if the
driver supports NPOT textures we use mipmapping. This list is obviously
incorrect as if these limitations really applied you could not use the
fglrx texture_from_pixmap implementation to actually write a compositor.
I wouldn't trust anything it says.

[Compiz] [Bug 556631] Re: Compiz showing corruption because not refusing to run when rez > max texture size

As anything in xorg-edgers in Lucid would be included in a more recent

a fix backported to lucid I'm also closing the lucid subbug.

[Compiz] [Bug 704602] Re: gtk-window-decoration crashes after starting firefox or chrome

2011-01-18 Thread Travis Watkins
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Well, it isn't lying, you don't have a GLXFBConfig for depth 32. Do you
have something in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/? This appears to be a
configuration issue.

[Compiz] [Bug 687738] Re: nvidia driver shows "magnet distortion"-like screen corruption and tearing when switching workspaces

2011-01-14 Thread Travis Watkins
Specifically, the part about enabling force_glx_sync when nvidia
hardware is detected. Although there is really no reason to not do this
for everyone, it's only a small (possible) performance hit. I initially
had a patch for 0.8 that did that just before the option was added to
the workaround plugin.

[Compiz] [Bug 658636] Re: title in title bars sometimes refreshes only if the window is moved/resized

2010-12-27 Thread Travis Watkins
Ok, so it seems pretty clear at this point this was a driver bug with
the intel driver and i915 hardware but as natty should already have what
you're getting from the x-updates PPA I'm going to mark this as fixed.
Thanks to Max and Omer for willing to get a little more bleeding edge to
confirm the fix.

the compiz package cannot change user settings on install or uninstall,

I agree that the best solution to this would be to make gnome-screenshot

least 3 window managers.

[Compiz] [Bug 328448] Re: XDMCP login using compiz cause reverse menu and graphics on client

So we call glXGetFBConfigAttrib (display, fbConfigs[j],
GLX_Y_INVERTED_EXT, &value); to see if we should flip the y axis when
drawing or not, apparently due to the different hardware in the host vs
the client this is not working correctly. I can't see of a way around
this though, except for each of you modifying the source to change
yInverted to whatever value is needed for your situation.

[Compiz] [Bug 693812] Re: Compiz resize/move shortcuts are not well managed for touchpad

2010-12-23 Thread Travis Watkins
This is actually because we're keeping in sync with GNOME/Metacity
keybindings which for these options have a setting for a modifier (Alt,
Ctrl+Alt, etc) and then separate options for the move and resize buttons
(Button1, Button3, etc) so setting resize to Ctrl-Alt-Button1 in compiz
changes the metacity modifier to Ctrl-Alt and the metacity resize button
to Button1 but since the modifier is shared between these two options
you run in to the problem you've found.

Honestly due to some mistakes in the lucid and maverick packaging the
only easy way to debug this is to use natty. Otherwise you'll need to
install debug symbols for compiz, ssh in from another computer and
attach gdb to the currently running compiz process, and when it crashes
type 'bt full' and copy/paste the output manually.

If you look at the glxinfo.txt attachment you can see the full output of
glxinfo and see that compiz is quite right, you lack proper support for
the GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap and are using the Software Rasterizer
(check the renderer string). I don't know if this is a configuration
issue on your system or a bug in the driver so I've reassigned to the
radeon driver. Please run `apport-collect 686164` to collect any
additional data needed for a complete report for the driver.

You tried to do it mid-transition. We're up to 0.9 on all components
now, should be fine.

[Compiz] [Bug 685050] Re: Inconsistent naming in "A program is still running:" dialog

2010-12-04 Thread Travis Watkins
There is already a bug about compiz making this dialog come up, this bug
seems to be about the text in the dialog itself which is in gnome-
session.

** Package changed: compiz (Ubuntu) => gnome-session (Ubuntu)

[Compiz] [Bug 684925] Re: remove Super + scroll shortcut in ezoom

2010-12-03 Thread Travis Watkins
OS X has this enabled by default. ;)

Seriously though, I can't see how someone could hit this combination of
keyboard and mouse by accident and not know what buttons they had
pressed.

2010-11-29 Thread Travis Watkins
Yeah, I was leaving the compiz part of the bug open until that part got
fixed. Should have made that clear, sorry.

[Compiz] [Bug 669269] Re: Desktop effects could not be enabled

2010-11-27 Thread Travis Watkins
Hmm, was OpenGL support disabled for these chips in maverick? I remember
something about issues with KMS/DRI2 for 8xx series chips and I think
that was the solution. That would certainly explain why you are getting
the software rendering error. Compiz is doing the right thing here, we
just need to figure out why your system doesn't have OpenGL acceleration
support.

Uh, everything? Kernel, Xorg, and Mesa, at least. Which means you need
an update from virtualbox.
