[Compiz] [Bug 1138489] Re: [regression] Grid Plugin does not restore maximized windows correctly.
Although this bug happens often with grid plugin, it's not the root cause of this issue (there was a bug in grid that has kept this problem hidden in the past). This bug can be reproduced with only core loaded by maximizing and restoring terminal window using key bindings. When the window is unmaximized, gnome-terminal decides to recalculate its size (it reacts to focus in/out events, and when a keybinding or restore button is pressed, compiz steals the focus). For some reason it's using the maximized window geometry as a base of the process. Also check out bug 1102024 (it's practically the same bug as this one but with different way to trigger it). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1138489 Title: [regression] Grid Plugin does not restore maximized windows correctly. [Compiz] [Bug 1102024] [NEW] Restoring a maximized Gnome Terminal window with keybinding fails to restore the original geometry
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Gnome Terminal 2. Maximize the window with the maximize keybinding (Ctrl+Super+Up) 3. Immidiately restore the window with the restore window keybinding (Ctrl+Super+Down) What happens: - Window is unmaximized but it still fills the entire desktop What should happen: - Window returns to the exact size it had before maximation. Testing this with Metacity and Mutter shows that this is compiz related (no problems there). It seems that Compiz properly restores the window but gnome-terminal immediately resizes the window back to it's maximized size. Gnome-terminal seems to react to focus in/out events by recalculating its size. When compiz restores the window, GTK apparently gives terminal the old size instead of the new one (maybe a syncing issue between compiz/X/gtk?) Also present in the r3569 of compiz trunk. [Compiz] [Bug 1043280] Re: Week 35- Grid highlight window appears covering the full screen
I think this is actually the same bug as bug 1037142. The result is just a little different. Test the following: 1. Open a new window (not maximized) 2. Start workspace switcher 3. Click once on the opened, non-maximized window [Workspace switcher closes] 4. Move mouse to the top edge of your screen 5. An orange grid overlay appears covering whole screen [This bug occurs] 6. Start workspace switcher again 7. Click again once on the opened, non-maximized window [Workspace switcher closes] 8. Move mouse pointer to left edge of your screen [Bug 1037142 occurs] So basically the problem is the same: grid thinks you're dragging a window and when you hit the edge, the orange overlay appears (like when you really drag a window) showing you what's going to happen to the window when you release your mouse. A little more reliable way to reproduce this bug: 1. Open a new window (not maximized) 2. Start workspace switcher 3. Click once on the opened, non-maximized window [Workspace switcher closes] 4. Move mouse to the top/left/right edge of your screen 5. An orange grid overlay appears covering whole/left half/right half screen -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1037142 Title: Week33 - Grid highlight window appears while switching between workspaces To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1037142/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Compiz] [Bug 201681] Re: Window management - Cursor position changes relative to window while dragging windows
This seems to be fixed in Quantal (and in Compiz trunk) as windows seem follow my mouse no matter what try (drag windows around, grab semi- maximised windows). After some digging and testing, the fix seems to be in revision 63 of lp :compiz-snap-plugin which was later merged to lp:compiz. As the plugin in Quantal is built from lp:compiz it has the working version included. Attached a diff of relevant changes (from rev63) which can be used to fix this bug in Precise if this bug were to be SRUed some point in the future (tested that locally and it seems to work fine). ** Patch added: relevant_changes.diff https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/201681/+attachment/3278096/+files/relevant_changes.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201681 Title: Window management - Cursor position changes relative to window while dragging windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/201681/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 878516] Re: Restoring a grid-placed window by dragging the title bar downwards does not restore the original window width
The problem is only happening when the window is maximized to the Left or Right edge. If you place a window to for example top left, or bottom, the window is resized correctly after it's snapped away from its position. Grid leaves the unmaximation to some other component and that doesn't restore the width which was changed prior to maximation (my guess is that it saves the window state after grid has changed the width) . Easy workaround would be to resize (and reposition, the position is also wrong if unmaximized via window controls) the window in GridWindow::stateChangeNotify when window is unmaximized. However this would complicate things even more as there's now two parts of the code which handle resizing and repositioning (one for normal restore, another for restore from maximized state). While debugging this, I found many other bugs (I'll open separate reports about those). IMO the window handling parts of the grid plugin should be completely rewritten instead of relying on ugly hacks to fix these bugs. Working around them would be hard and it will make make the code even more complicated than needs to be and thus might cause some other problems in the future... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/878516 Title: Restoring a grid-placed window by dragging the title bar downwards does not restore the original window width To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/878516/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Compiz] [Bug 1006716] Re: Worskspace change switches focus between fullscreened Gnome Terminals
This is not actually caused by workspace switch or is limited to two windows of the same app. It's a bit more generic issue. After playing around with fullscreen windows, I found out that following things happen: 1. Press F11 - Window A is fullscreened 2. Change to Window B - Press F11 - Window B is fullscreened 3. Press F11 - Window B is unfullscreened - PROBLEM: Window A pops up front but B still has the focus 4. Press F11 - Window B is fullscreened (it had the focus) - Window B comes back to the top, A hides behind B 5. Keep pressing F11 - 3 and 4 repeats until user manually changes focus (or more likely closes the program because it doesn't seem to be working properly) This only happens if the two windows are stacked one after another. If there's a normal window between them, everything works fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1006716 Title: Worskspace change switches focus between fullscreened Gnome Terminals To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1006716/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
