LeelaZero seems to have got a boost in strength. It just happened to
beat a 5d player on DGS: https://www.dragongoserver.net/game.php?gid=1214911

Beginning of this year it still lost against fuego bot by a big margin.

Let's hope it's not just luck.

Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London,
and will be based at the Mile End Campus in East London.

The aim of the project is to make significant progress on two fronts by
developing rapidly adaptive algorithms that can be used as the basis for
statistical simulation-based AI controllers, and also be used to search game
design spaces for novel and interesting games. A particular focus of the work
will be on general approaches to designing and playing real-time strategy games
using methods related to combinatorial multi-armed bandits.

Candidates will need to have a relevant PhD in Computer Science (or equivalent
academic or industrial experience) or related discipline, and a track record
that includes publications in Artificial Intelligence applied to Games.
Candidates should have a background in designing AI for games (video games
and/or board games) automatic game tuning. It is essential that the candidate
has the ability to work effectively in teams to undertake collaborative
research and co-author high quality publications.

The project may also involve working with visiting researchers, and visiting
other institutions involved in Game AI. In addition, the successful candidate
will be expected to assist with supervising PhD students.

This is a full-time post for 27 months or until 31 July 2020 whichever is the
shorter. The post is available from June 2018. The starting salary will be in
the range of £36,677 - £43,152 per annum inclusive of London allowance.
