Re: [CGUYS] Battery
Another source for odd batteries is http://www.batteriesplus.com. They have a store in Fairfax at 11213-G Lee Highway which isn't that far from MicroCenter. In the DOS/Windows world, they are known as BIOS batteries. If you are talking about the mobo battery, try radiosmack. Radioshack no longer carries the 3.6 volt lithium 1/2 AA type that I needed, and neither does Microcenter where I used to find them. Radioshack had it listed on their website, albeit at a premium price of $16.99, but once I got to their local store, I was chagrined to find they have dropped it from their catalog, and the store had none. [CGUYS] marking on CDs with marker pens?
I heard this only recently and wonder if anyone has any experience: Most people mark on their CDs and DVDs with harsh solvent-based permanent markers that can cause damage by corroding the top layer of the media. Safe pens are solvent-free, non-toxic, and alcohol-free. And here is a link to a better explanation which states 20 years is about the longest time before degrading: http://www.mscience.com/faq508.html Anyone know more about this? /gayley -- -- Gayley Knight Mother Geek Productions MotherGeek.com By, For About Women Radio bfawomenRadio.com Association of Women in Radio and Television, Board Business and Professional Women/MC, Board NAWBO, Board * == QUICK LIST-COMMAND REFERENCE - Put the following commands in == * == the body of an email send 'em to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] == * Join the list: SUBSCRIBE COMPUTERGUYS-L Your Name * Too much mail? Most people mark on their CDs and DVDs with harsh solvent-based permanent markers that can cause damage by corroding the top layer of the media. Safe pens are solvent-free, non-toxic, and alcohol-free. We had a flame war about that here about a year ago. We now know that... Our right-wing faction will fight to the death to preserve their right to use pens with petroleum-distillate solvents. Tom's theory is that using an ink with a strong solvent will soften the plastic, making it more permeable to bad things in the air. Different people have different results with such disks depending on the disk's exposere to bad things. This inconsistent reports about long-term problems. Tom uses Staedtler CD-R pens, which are made in Germany. He bought his at Staples. They cost the same as Sharpies. * == QUICK LIST-COMMAND REFERENCE - Put the following commands in == * == the body of an email send 'em to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] == * Join the list: SUBSCRIBE COMPUTERGUYS-L Your Name * Too much mail?
