I second the recommendation for the Zoom H2. It has very good quality mics, and it acts like a USB memory stick (mass storage device) when you connect it. One issue is low recording volume. Note that there are two different gain controls on it: a switch for low/medium/high, and an additional parameter that you set from the front panel. I find that I have to turn that up to the max (127) to get good volume on recording conversations.
