Re: [CGUYS] List Spam?
I haven't seen anything like this. By DNS, perhaps he means a whois record? Do you have any domains registered under your name? But, using DNS to get a SSN? I'd be more interested to know how we're supposed to use someone's DNS to get their credit score? That's not scary, it's humorous. On Jan 20, 2008 3:25 PM, Roger D. Re: [CGUYS] List Spam?
I think someone is spoofing you. As far as I know it is impossible to get your SS # through your DNS#. But this goes to show you to what lengths they will go to get you to send them info. I read recently that most of the hack jobs and viruses sent out today are being traced back to financial criminal attacks. 7 years ago most of the viruses were done for fun and games. Nowadays they are being done for profit and gain. Spam like this is looking for you to respond and give them info they can use against you. I got the following message, ostensibly in response to a posting I made on this list. While obviously bogus, I wonder about the motive of the sender. (This is the only url I have ever had problems with using OpenDSL.) At the OpenDNS web site, I used their CacheCheck feature which showed that they could not resolve www.highcriteria.com at any of their DNS, even with a Cache refresh. Is it just me?? and why?? I compared my OpenDNS addresses with yours and note that I have 208.67.220.220 for the second address, NOT 208.65..;. Maybe that is the difference? PS. I also tried BOTH www.highcriteria.com and just highcriteria.com: both worked.
