Did you try defragging in the safe mode?


Now I am trying to defragment my C: drive and guess what shows in 
the lower bar?


PROGRAM (C:) Paused for Volume Shadow Copy

And...it seems that it will stay there...

Any help?

straightened paper clip too to no avail...

Try turning the power off and using a stiff (jumbo) paper clip. Pushing 
in the paper clip should move the drive tray out about 1/8 to 1/4 inch. 
Then you can pull it out the rest of the way manually. Go slow and watch 
carefully. You may have to manipulate the defective disc as you move the 
tray out.
