I am looking for advice on making my PC a little quieter.  I gather I 
need to look at replacing my case fan and power supply...? What do you 
recommend that you have actually tried?  (It's a Linux box in case that 
makes any difference.)  TIA

Watercooling.
Still uses fans on the radiators but they are big
(120mm) and only turn at about 900rpm.

Get a new case that will accomodate big, slow fans and

I went with Bigwater 745 cooling cpu, gpu, chipset. on
an amd dual core
full load cpu temp 39c
and quiet as a laptop
