[CGUYS] hijacking address for spam

My address, [EMAIL PROTECTED] was hijacked for spam. wher xxx is a varitey of 
both names and nonsense. why do spammers need an address?  one of my addresses 
gets hijacked about every 8 weeks.

Because many companies will whitelist based on domain and/or return to:
address.  That, and they need some address to look legitimate enough for
people to click on them, assuming they get through the spam filter.

I've been seeing quite a few spam lately that are targeted specifically at
our company, spoofing domains of other companies in our industry, since they
would be considered trusted senders.  Spammers are getting more
sophisticated.

Many email servers will bounce mail if they can't trace it back to a 
valid domain and matching IP number.
