Re: [CGUYS] play video from laptop to TV

2010-04-02 Thread Stewart Marshall

There are two ways I do it.

I have an extended VGA cable that I plug into my laptop, and the plug
into the TV. Depends on what you have but at least one male end and
possibly one female end require. That will do the video. If you want
sound, a stereo miniplug to dual RCA Phono plugs which you will then
need to plug into the TV.

Alternative which will give you three RCA plugs to plug into a
DVD/VCD (red/white/yellow Combo) is to get a S-video to RCA adapter
(I have one for my Dell, the computer S-Video and TV S-Video are not
the same) and the use a three wire RCA Plug to RCA Plug which will
give you video and sound together.

I have used both of the above ways to plug my laptop into a TV both
conventional SDTV (Tube) and HDTV (Flat Panel LCD)

Really works great. Especially for Netflix streamed movies.

I place the x31 in an x3 ultrabase which has a pass-through to another
connector that resembles the one above but they call it a "vga" port. see
it here:

so, now, what cable will I need to get to hook my notebook with or without
docking station (It seems the port on my notebook just passes through to the
docking station which "replicates" the ports) .so I can plunk it down next
to my tv and watch a movie from the computer (I have some in various formats
.avi, wmv .many are VGA so they will show nicely).

Thanks!
