[concordance-devel] Harmony 785 support

2011-06-04 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Hi,

Here I'm reporting an issue I got from the Debian bugs for congruity.
For reference, that's http://bugs.debian.org/584896.

Apparently congruity tries to do the "Reconnect to Remote" task right
after "Verify Upgrade". This yields a failure, because it seems like
the 785 restarts after "Verify Upgrade" as isn't yet ready to answer
to new connections. It's been suggested by the reporter to just wait a
bit in congruity before reconnecting.

This is the error message:

Unknown error

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/congruity", line 702, in _WorkerFunction

  raise LibConcordException(self.func_name, result)

Any ideas or further information needed?

Disappointing.

Seems like this cheapo model uses a very different method, including a
different site and credentials to provide configuration tools for the
remote. Moreover, a quick attempt at getting access to the old
members.harmonyremote.com site with the new credentials failed (uses
email addy instead of username).

That said, given it seems to load through a form of ActiveX component
or other plugin in a browser window, I guess there is a way to reverse
engineer that as well. Or am I looking at stuff that has already been
attempted/done for other models of remotes? ;)

[concordance-devel] Proposed changes to udev rules

2010-08-03 Thread Mathieu Trudel
Hi,

I guess I'm a little late to get back on this for the release, but
here it is anyway:

There's issues with the "plain udev" rules as they are being written
now. They use SYSFS, which is deprecated, and should instead be using
ATTR as the udev + policykit + hal do. However, this brings to another
issue, as hal is being removed from at least Ubuntu, so the udev with
policy set of rules cannot be used as they are.

For now, I've opted for using simple udev rules, which I have tweaked
a bit. Please see the attached patch.

There are other changes, including which group is being used to give
permissions. I thought 'plugdev' was more fitting than 'dialout', but
I may be wrong.

I certainly wouldn't object. I was already looking to do updates of
concordance and congruity for Debian, with some patches for different
details. I'll forward the patches now if they are relevant, so they
can be integrated upstream instead (maybe).

I guess I forgot to mention it... they did. Note however that there is
one known issue with the hal/udev rules in Karmic, which can be resolved
by using the version from Debian sid/squeeze or Lucid.

Congruity is only in Debian sid/squeeze and Ubuntu Lucid.

Stephen,

You should try to use the packages included in Ubuntu 9.10 already.

You can do that by finding concordance in synaptic or issuing the
'apt-get install concordance' command.

Unless there is a specific reason you would prefer not to use it?

As for your issues with make, I believe it is because you should build
libconcord first, from the directory of the same name.

[concordance-devel] congruity uploaded to Debian (Fwd: congruity_13+dfsg-1_amd64.changes ACCEPTED)

2009-11-20 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Hi,

Just to let all know, I got this confirmation message for the upload
of congruity to Debian. You may notice it's not on a mirror yet -- if
that's the case, it should be synchronized shortly.

Note, it's a -dfsg upload because I replaced the remote.png image with
one I took of my own Harmony 670, scaled and cropped to a similar
size, to be able to upload with no license issues. Perhaps the file I
used could be used instead of the current one in the tarballs, so that
future uploads don't require this mod? I released that file under the
GPL-3, and I will be happy to send it by email to someone for it to be
added to SVN, for example.

By the way, thanks again for this kickass utility :)

[concordance-devel] Licensing issue for congruity's remote.png

2009-10-11 Thread Mathieu Trudel
Hi,

Below is what I received today, regarding the recent completion of the package
for congruity in Debian, and successful review by Debian-Mentors.

Would it be acceptable to ship remote.png as CC-BY-SA 2.5 and later, instead of
having to remove it from the package to comply with DFSG?

If it's the case, please let me know so I can update the debian/copyright file
accordingly. It would also be good to publish that change in LICENSE.txt :)

Thanks!

Indeed, the perl bindings are still out -- sorry. I just didn't have
time to focus so much on them before, but will very soon. I guess I
can push an update fairly easily for this, especially since all the
rest is already done.

And yes, I do plan to package congruity and bring it up on Debian
unstable as well, I was waiting for
concordance/libconcord1/python-libconcord to be accepted to have the
deps already in place first. Most of the packaging stuff is already
done, I just need to finish a couple of fixes.

[concordance-devel] Concordance 0.21-2 in Debian unstable

2009-08-07 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Hi all,

I just wanted to share the good news: concordance is now in Debian
unstable, as of August 5. I would have said something sooner, but
wanted to check firsthand on a system :)
