XFree86-Rage128 / XFree86-3dfx packages. I have a new 3dfx Voodo3 3000 and it works well with SVGA-3.3.6 - except that at shutdown, just before poweroff should happen, it goes into a loop putting textlines on the display and must be stopped by a 4 second hold-down of the power button, ie power off. The linux part of the shutdown is all done, so there are no problems coming up again. It really looks bad, though. -- Regards, Ron. [AU] - sent by Linux.
[Cooker] order of ypbind and autofs starting in rc.d
Hi, I'm having some issues with autofs lately on my just installed cooker system. I've noticed that autofs is allowed to start befor ypbind. This leaves autofs without automount maps. [stefan@stefan rc.d]$ find | grep autofs ./init.d/autofs ./rc0.d/K85autofs ./rc1.d/K85autofs ./rc2.d/K85autofs ./rc3.d/S15autofs ./rc4.d/S15autofs ./rc5.d/S15autofs ./rc6.d/K85autofs [stefan@stefan rc.d]$ find | grep bind ./init.d/ypbind ./rc0.d/K83ypbind ./rc1.d/K83ypbind ./rc2.d/K83ypbind ./rc3.d/S17ypbind ./rc4.d/S17ypbind ./rc5.d/S17ypbind ./rc6.d/K83ypbind Could things be organised so that ypbind is started b4 autofs? [Cooker] MDK701 won't do graphical install with S3TRIO.
Hello, I don't know if this is the right adress for this report. But anyway, The graphical install of Mandrake 7.0-1 (this isn't the Cooker, I know, but maybe this isn't fixed yet in the Cooker) doesn't work on my computer. When, after initialising the cdrom, it goes to second stage install, it says: in second stage install _X11TransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno=111 _X11TransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno=111 Gtk-WARNING**: cannot open display :0 at /usr/bin/perl-install/my-gtk.pm line 139 install exited abnormally Seems my graphics card don't get detected, it is an S3TRIO 64V2. Never had problems with it in Redhat 5.2, 6.0 and Mandrake 6.0. So I did a newt install. Xconfigurator doesn't work good either, when trying to test X it says "There is a problem with your X-server" However, it does write the XF86config file and X does work ater using the tool. Processor: AMD K6 II Sblive soundcard ISA 56k modem Gainward 5VPA Motherboard (VIA Chipset) Any clues as to why this won't work ? Max Heijndijk

[Cooker] FYI: Secure kernel install
Hello. Have anyone noticed that if you are using the Secure Kernel version, you cannot go beyond 56 IP addresses on one network card? Not sure if this is the feature or not, but I was able to cram up to 200 IP addresses on one network card, but not with 7.02 Secure Kernel version. Anyone have simliar problems with this?

[Cooker] Installation woes
I just installed 7.0-1, which I know has some installation problems. I had some problems with X, and lilo, but I got it to install. Howver, when I go to boot, it hung on "Creating /mnt/disk" so I rebooted, and it hung right after mounting root (/dev/hda5). I gave it a good 5 minutes to do something, but it won't. Any ideas? Also, the lilo with the lba patch seems to not work on some drives (old BIOSes that don't support LBA) and you get error 0x10. Why isn't the lba patch fqalling back to Normal if that fails?
