[Cooker] LWP/UserAgent.pm

2001-01-01 Thread Trebor A. Rude

I just installed a perl script recently (getdata.pl from the showtimes
program for the palm pilot), and it says that it's missing
LWP/UserAgent.pm. Does anyone out there know which if any Mandrake package
provides this? rpmfind.net wasn't very helpful, because it requires full
pathnames, and I don't know the full path.

[Cooker] fix proposal: xscreensaver

2001-01-01 Thread Stefan van der Eijk

Here's a fix for xscreensaver, since it hasn't been rebuilding for some
time...

Change

CFLAGS="$RPM_OPT_FLAGS"

into

CFLAGS="$RPM_OPT_FLAGS -D_GNU_SOURCE"

(thanks redhat)

3.26 is also out, but then patch6 needs to be updated.

http://d10179.dtk.chello.nl/build/fixes/cooker/xscreensaver-3.25-7mdk.src.rpm
http://d10179.dtk.chello.nl/build/fixes/cooker/xscreensaver.spec

http://d10179.dtk.chello.nl/build/fixes/cooker/xscreensaver.spec.diff

Another thing: why is that %ifarch alpha statement needed? With 3.26
(without patch6) my machine compiles fine without the %ifarch alpha
statement (haven't tested the difference though).

so of space is a lot to ask for but I'm sure it would be appreciated by many
of the cooker testers. If you don't have space on site, what are the chances
of getting one of your mirrors to keep one up that's updated at least weekly?

If you have room to download the two CD images, then you have space
to download the Cooker tree from which you can directly install using
the /images/hd.img floppy. Thus going through the CD burning process
is not necessary or even desirable. There exists no script which
will divide the Cooker tree into two CD images.

Cooker is too dynamic, with loads of significant changes daily. It
is not stable (in fact the current Cooker wiped out my Windows
partition and my MBR, so be very careful!).

Cooker is NOT a distribution, nor is it a place to get updated RPMs
for 7.2

Hey Ron,

Normally I do just use your handy rsync tool, but my floppy died a week ago
and I was getting frustrated with a 1 gig ISO file made by using mkisofs. My
new floppy drive will be here tomorrow so I guess since an ISO or two is no
where to be found I'll just patiently wait and jump back into cooker
tomorrow. And if Cooker happens to wipe out my windows MBR, I guess I'll
just be stuck using a real OS for a while ;)

PS: Stable is for wimps isn't it? lol

[Cooker] postfix version in cooker

2001-01-01 Thread Jim Drash

The postfix version in cooker is 19991231_pl08 pl13 is out and I wonder
if anyone has built a Mandrake RPM for the latest "beta" version
(20001217) which is about to become the official version. I know that
Simon Mudd (http://www.pobox.com/~sjmudd/postfix/) has been putting out
Redhat RPMs of postfix for quite some time (both the table and "beta"
versions). This version is enough different from the current Mandrake
version as to not be easily converted (at least by me g).

The 20001217 version supports SMTP Auth (requires cyrus-sasl-devel). I
hope that someone gives this a look.

By for now,

Re: [Cooker] Most of the kio libs are missing in latest KDE

2001-01-01 Thread John Cavan

kdebase-2.1-0.20001229.2mdk is the version I have. The spec file simply
needs to add:

%{kde2dir}/kio_audiocd.so
%{kde2dir}/kio_filter.so
%{kde2dir}/kio_finger.so
%{kde2dir}/kio_gopher.so
%{kde2dir}/kio_help.so
%{kde2dir}/kio_info.so
%{kde2dir}/kio_man.so
%{kde2dir}/kio_nfs.so
%{kde2dir}/kio_nntp.so
%{kde2dir}/kio_pop3.so
%{kde2dir}/kio_smb.so
%{kde2dir}/kio_smtp.so
%{kde2dir}/kio_tar.so

Somewhere in the %files section to work. The libs are built, just not
included.

[Cooker] network load doesn't

2001-01-01 Thread Vincent Meyer

Hello,

Tried to load a clean copy of cooker today from the sunsite
mirror, and there's a few problems.

My computer is a Gateway Solo 9100 laptop, which has a primary
Windows partition of about 7GB, then a 1.5GB partition for root, and
another 0.5GB partition for the home directory.

First off, I boot from the floppy image for PCMCIA, and can
get into the mirror just fine. Stage 2 loads, and the graphic install
comes up. I tell it to do an expert install. The installer makes it
all the way through to the disk partitioning. The Windows partition
is recognised, and the mount point is set to /mnt/windows. I set the
mount points for the root and /home partitions. When it goes to update
an error message comes up saying that the partition can't be mounted.
(not sure.. wrote it down, can't find it..) Looking at console 3 (?)
says:

trying with /tmp/vfat.o
unresolved symbol fat_scan
unresolved symbol fat_add_cluster
unresolved symbol fat_dir_empty
.. etc - there's a bunch of them.

Restarting, and simply removing the mount point for the
windows directory gets past this.

The installer says "looking for packages", and appears to
load something, then the network traffic decreases to one packet
every couple seconds, and nothing else happens. Waited almost
an hour - never gets to package selection.

Console 1 flashes the following message over and over
every second:

Sun Dec 31 15:31:52 2000 Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported
by C library at /usr/bin/pearl-install/my_gtk.pm line 178

sometime later - another step in the install? says:

perl: warning: Setting locale failed
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
LANGUAGE = "en_US:en"
LC_ALL = "en_US"
LANG = "en"
are supported in your system

perl: warning: Falling back to the Standard locale ("C")
Processing archive "/mnt/var/lib/urpmi/hdlist.ftp1.cz"

Ah well.

Thanks in advance - I'll try again in a couple days. Can I presume
that the errors are in Stage 2?
