I don't insist anymore, in the end it's not me that hurts. :-( For intltool, that should be determined by each package individually. Opening more windows has the effect of trying to squeeze all of the window list entries into the same 1/2 inch originally occupied by the first. If I right-click on the bottom panel and choose Preferences, the dialog comes up, and after a second or two it closes by itself and the window list entries all get expanded to their proper size. If I'm quick enough to get to the Preferences Dialog and change the size of the panel by any amount either way, the window list entries all get expanded to their proper size, *and* the dialog stays up.

Serge Pluess [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Hi I thought I would try some of those tests you suggested. First of all the Directory with the updated cooker files on the ftp server is : /home/spluess/Mandrake-devel So I tried the following curl command: [Serge-Pluesss-Computer:~] root# curl -k --location-trusted -R -f --stderr - -z harddrake-9.2-0.21mdk.i586.rpm -O ftp://spluess:[EMAIL PROTECTED]//home/spluess/Mandrake-devel/cooker/i586/ Mandrake/RPMS/harddrake-9.2-0.21mdk.i586.rpm This is the result of that command: curl: (9) Couldn't cd to home So then I tried it without the double //: [Serge-Pluesss-Computer:~] root# curl -k --location-trusted -R -f --stderr - -z harddrake-9.2-0.21mdk.i586.rpm -O ftp://spluess:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/home/spluess/Mandrake-devel/cooker/i586/ Mandrake/RPMS/harddrake-9.2-0.21mdk.i586.rpm Same result: curl: (9) Couldn't cd to home then I thought I might try not to specify the /home/spluess part as the Mandrake-devel folder is under the user accounts home directory: [Serge-Pluesss-Computer:~] root# curl -k --location-trusted -R -f --stderr - -z harddrake-9.2-0.21mdk.i586.rpm -O ftp://spluess:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/Mandrake-devel/cooker/i586/Mandrake/RPMS/ harddrake-9.2-0.21mdk.i586.rpm That command just hangs. Same also for double // between dbdev and Mandrake-devel Then I tried adding --disable-epsv, same results as above curl -l ftp://spluess:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/ also just hangs so then I tried to add -P and I got the file listing from my home dir with the -l command Next try was the transfer command above with the -P option and this time it worked, but only without the /home/spluess part in the ftp path: [Serge-Pluesss-Computer:~] root# curl -k --location-trusted -P -R -f --stderr - -z harddrake-9.2-0.21mdk.i586.rpm -O ftp://spluess:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/Mandrake-devel/cooker/i586/Mandrake/RPMS/ harddrake-9.2-0.21mdk.i586.rpm and here is the output % Total% Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Curr. [Cooker] OT: Evolution and IMAP support in cooker
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hello, Is it just me or is the current Cooker version of Evolution 1.4 so incredibly buggy ? (Or is Evolution 1.4 working at all ? I do not know, I am KDE user and didn't use Gnome since long time ago - no flamewars please). I am trying to start it under KDE and use it with my IMAP account. It usually hangs when trying to contact the IMAP server. The server logs say, that there was a wrong certificate version sent from Evolution (??? I have no personal certs set up, authentication is just with password over SSL). OK, I kill it, kill bonobo, kill gconf and whatever else there is, restart, then it pops up the dialogue about a self-signed certificate. OK, so far so good. Then, when trying to work with my mail, it likes to freeze in various stages, e.g. when downloading mail, when trying to exit the program, sometimes I lose my filters, trying to use LDAP server for contacts hangs it etc. Did anybody manage to use Evolution with IMAP ? I switched to IMAP recently for my e-mail and had to abandon Kmail, because it does not support automatic running of filters on IMAP folders yet. With my tons of spam and 800 new mails daily it is huge pain to use. Right now I am using Mozilla, but that is very slow. I tried to use Thunderbird as well, but the speed of the GUI is not much improved. You almost see the widgets redrawing. I also tried Sylpheed, but it is using old GTK 1.2 and it's non-antialiased fonts stand out as a sore thumb. Any suggestions for a reasonable e-mail client with good IMAP support ? Since the format of the datastore could change, the only recommended way is to speak to the server with the imap protocol. Well, after a lot of googling and some hacking, we now have a set of working scripts, based on these, the original sources from the book, some versions converted from the tcl version of cyradm to perl-Cyrus, and some hacking. There is only one important issue, and that is that messages lose their status flags (ie read messages appear unread). Ideally, we would like to keep these. Any idea if the imap method would retain them? Otherwise, I have one more thing to fix, otherwise we are about ready to migrate the mail on the box in question (though we have some other tasks to do also before we actually do it). I have a comparable setup as far as cooker is concerned (up-to-date, but with the older mm kernel). I use evolution both at home (latest cooker) and at work (evolution 1.2.4 on mdk 9.1), accessing my home e-mail from my IMAP server at home, and my work e-mail from the IMAP at work (so both installs have both a fast, local, connection and a slow, remote, one). The work install uses SSL to connect to the home IMAP, so that's covered too. And use KDE as desktop environment. The only problem I have is that at work for very large mailboxes ( 1000 mails) over the connection to my home machine the 'reindexing' process can take a bit long. I can't blame this on evo, though, just on a slow connection and slow home server machine. Well, that and hang on launching a webbrowser bug, but in the latest cooker version it at least doesn't hang anymore (just doesn't launch the browser). But that's a known bug. http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4274 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-24-07 18:48 --- I have not tested the version of wine available in the Mandrake-cooker but I take the sources from the wine cvs about one month ago and compiled and installed wine from the sources to my cooker installation. Installation and usage worked just fine for me after following instructions available in the winehq for the office 2000. (I installed office 2000 and later servicepacks 1 and 2 for the office) I only tested word from the office applications thought. Uhm, they are GNOME specific, but sure there is a similar site for KDE... IMHO, we don't want to purposely waste space that could be used for software on duplication of style. I think it would be nice to have one or two *really* good backgrounds in each style, so maybe: -landscapes -flowers/butterflies kind of idea -textured background (like the ripples) -flatter background in the style of the current blue background, or something like the default OSX, or one of the Ximian-type (the sofa stuff) But, it would of course be nicer to have a bit of a Mandrake slant, instead of just ripping backgrounds off art.gnome.org or kde-look.org. The issue is really getting the default look integrated, from lilo, through bootsplash, dm, desktop splash screen (if applicable), cursor theme, desktop background, icons, widget theme, wm theme etc etc. I assume someone at Mandrakesoft handles this, but in the past when I have tried to contact such people, I have had very abrupt replies ... it would be nice if people who have the ability (not me! I am no graphist) in the community could work together with the Mandrakesoft'ers. I know these aspects are probably sensitive, and Mandrakesoft would want to keep such things under wraps possibly, but that is why we have GPG (which we trust for more sensitive things ...). Of course, it might be nice if someone from the community could step up to the plate and handle community contributions, and try and start cooperation with the Mandrakesoft people. Oh yes, of course, keeping the graphics consistent even through the distro to the websites may be another idea to continue building brand awareness (as SuSE and RH do).
