[Cooker] [Bug 1300] [drakxtools] /usr/lib/cups/filter/cupsomatic file missing from foomatic
https://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1300 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-02-05 18:40 --- My install is currently not printing after I updated the other day. Does anyone know how to get the system's printing functionality back without cupsomatic? --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: Upgraded from Mandrake 9.0 to Mandrake 9.1 beta3 and ran printerdrake to configure for remote cups server/Tektronix Phaser 850 (postscript). Could not print test pages. Set cups LogLevel to debug and saw "usr/lib/cups/filter/cupsomatic: No such file or directory" in /var/log/cups/error_log. Could not locate the file in any cups or foomatic package in the 9.1 beta3 distribution. Copied cupsomatic from a Mandrake 9.0 system, and printer now works fine. On 9.0, cupsomatic is installed with the foomatic package. On 9.1, a new foomatic-db package appears to install similar files, but not cupsomatic.

But it is working nonetheless. That's why I think that cupsomatic was removed (obsoleted), and the problem is that your upgraded system keeps somewhere a reference to the older config using cupsomatic. You did not say if the new install was actually printing or not. https://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1300 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-02-05 17:45 --- Well, I just checked whether it's specific to upgrade. I have another Mandrake 9.1 beta3 machine on which I did a fresh install, so I went over to look at its configuration. After executing printerdrake to install everything, /usr/lib/cups/filter/cupsomatic is missing. I didn't run through a full printer configuration... is that required to get the cupsomatic script? On a Mandrake 9.0 machine, 'rpm -qf /usr/lib/cups/filter/cupsomatic' shows that it's installed by foomatic-2.0.2-20021220.2.2mdk. On the 9.1 beta3 machines, 'urpmf /usr/lib/cups/filter/cupsomatic' and 'urpmf cupsomatic' report nothing. Looks like the cupsomatic file is missing from the entire distribution. I think it is related to update, since it happened to a system where printing had worked (under cooker) and the cooker upgrades have broken this. My guess is that is related to a different placement of programs in the different cups packages. Reinstalling my printer made urpmi grab the proper packages and everything worked again.
