"If you use "urpmi" for doing the package update
(Mandrake's graphical frontends as rpmdrake or the installer use urpmi, too) you
should be asked whether you want to remove the previous package."

Neither urpmi or rpmdrake will do this for libxx-devel.
If the api for the lib has changed the old devel pkg must be manually removed
then the New devel pkg can be installed.

I posted to the cooker list Mon info regarding the consequence of kernel-utils
being provided by both the kernel-utils rpm of and by ksymoops asking for a
rebuild of ksymoops butonly got a response from Buchan Milne agreeing with me.

The problem still stands if ksymoops is installed the initscripts Require for
kernel-utils is met and therefore the kernel-utils rpm will not by default be
installed and for whatever reason ksymoops is the rpm which is auto installed.

The problems lies within the menu commad used for gimp, gimp-remote -n -f, which
does not work for launching gimp from a menu but only when used for launching
gimp to 'Open file with'.

This was occuring on 2 systems, on both I am using enlightenment as wm and runng
gnome-panel.

gnome-theme-manager gives me default schemas could not be found error.

I was able to get the icons back by using 'Menu Toolbars Pref'
I had to uncheck the box for 'Show icons in menu', close and then re-launch
'Menu Prefs', re-check the box for 'Show icons, and close the app.
The icons were then again present in the menus.

This was successful on both systems.

If I have a CDRW, it is installed by Mandrake as a SCSI device. However if in

cdrecord w'ont support IDE-to-SCSI CD copying, so I always have to add the
hdc=ide-scsi in Lilo and change fstab to automount the drive as SCSI.
K3B will list CDRW as the only source and target possible, which is something
the normal user will not understand. Evenmore, he/she will probably never
change the config files as I stated earlier.
I though that if during installation of Lilo I added the hdc=ide-scsi, the
autodetect process would correctly set HDC as SCSI, but that didn't the trick.

I thought that automatically or as an ADVANCED option one should be able to
change how the CDROM is mounted.

You Can use the generic vega driver or you can use the linux driver available from
ATI.

Secondly this 'bug' is a dup of #3347

Unless you are running current kernel-2421-12 And current XFree-4.3-2 you Are Not
running current cooker and as such your bug is invalid.

The drm module which is necessary for dri with radeons has been updated in the
current kernels that is why you are getting the mismatch.
Your version of XFree is expecting 1 and your kernel is providing another.

It does not have to be run from console it can be done after login to xfce.

No available distro runs the script which you suggest.
The xfce developers specificly left as user responsibility the running of
xfce_setup.
An addidtional problem with the use of such a script is if you are upgrading
xfce then xfce_upgrade needs to be run rather than set_up.
I have written an updated spec for xfce-3.8.18 which during %post advises of
Both these scripts.
Hopefully it will be included post 9.1.

As such I still state that this is not a valid bug.

Running xfce_setup is to be done by the user not by the rpm pkg.
It is the users responsibility.

This is not a valid bug.

The reason this was entered as an installation bug is that is what I thought it was.
I have 3 other system running curent cooker all with dhcpcd installed and on None
of those is installed dhcp-common, dhcp-client or tmdns and none have ever had
any problem connecting to the LAN/net

As to running drakconnect in expert mode it does not do a Damn thing except tell
me can not connect to Internet check settings in MCC.

Marking bug as closed

connection or the hardware detected dhcp-client and dhcp-server are installed and Only

If connection type is set for LAN dhcpcd should be istalled.
This bug also affects the standalone drakcoonect but was not present in 9.0 or
previous versions

Just to note I did not post the 20 February 2003 comment.
With RC2 the bug is still present.
Additional info is hat on clean install using default pkg selections and cinfiguration.
/etc/resolv.conf is an empty file.
Manually adding nameserver IP or my prefered, installing dhcpcd fixes the problem.

If you are using it as a hd controller rather than for raid you can try passing the hd
addresses to the kenel when starting the installation

I still cant find any drivers for the promise fasttrak 376 ata/raid
controller. My motherboard is an Asus P4PE, and my hard drive is connected to
the raid controller. Mandrake 9.1 RC1 does not have any drivers to support
this controller, so I cant install it. It cannot find my hard drive. Can you
provide support for this in other releases of Mandrake 9.1?

It was detected as a "tulip" device, and it says the network is "up" but I
cannot browse with Mozilla (and it says "Internet access" status is "Not
connected").

This machine is an Athlon 1.0 GHz with 1.5 GB RAM, also running Windows 2000
which can connect with no problem so it's not a hardware issue. My network
configuration is a cable modem which serves DHCP, connected to the uplink port
of a Netgear DS108 hub, with 4 machines connected through the hub. All machines
work perfectly under Windows 2000.

I'm really hopeful that I can get Linux working on at least one of my machines,
as I'd really like to be able to use it.

This is Mandrake 9.1 beta 2.
