RE: [Cooker] cyclic dependency: gal-> gnome-db -> libglade -> gal

2001-03-25 Thread Aaron Cohen

I thought when something like:
package foo requires package bar
and
package bar requires package foo

happens, you simply type on one line:
rpm -i (or -u or -f) foo.rpm bar.rpm

How about: "Silently select dependencies." ?

It's a compile time flag unfortunately, Con :\

RE: Re: [Cooker] licq qt-gui plugin question

2001-03-18 Thread Aaron Cohen

This is obviously not a very important issue, so I'm just asking out of curiosity
here. :)

How is this any different from the way Aurora is installed where you install the
Aurora package and then are required to choose one of the Aurora_monitor packages?

No. Currently, in the Licq package, it is set up in such a way that
the Licq plugins provides licq-plugin.

However:

A plugin is *required* for licq to work. If I split it up and only licq-base
gets installed which requires licq-plugin then how will someone know
which plugin to install? Then again, if I split it up into licq-base
and then have it require the default no-KDE Qt plugin then there is no
point in splitting.

RE: Re: [Cooker] licq qt-gui plugin question

2001-03-18 Thread Aaron Cohen

I think perhaps the best way to do this would be to split licq up into:
licq-base (which provides licq-base, requires licq-plugin)
and
licq-plugin-qt-with-kde
licq-plugin-qt-no-kde
licq-plugin-console
licq-plugin-(some_other_plugin_here)
(which all provide licq-plugin, and require licq-base)

Would that work?

But it's a compile time option!

So:
Well, again, the thing is, one thing to definitely consider is alternatives.

Re: [Cooker] still problems with dhcp

2000-10-19 Thread Aaron Cohen

I noticed that Udo has his netmask set to 255.255.240.0 are you sure that
that is correct, Uwe?

Try setting it to 255.255.255.0

Of course your network may require the 240 but that just seems weird to me.
Also try unsetting the netmask completely, dhcp will often set that for you.

RE: [Cooker] Problem w/ System Event Sounds in KDE

2000-10-18 Thread Aaron Cohen

The way to gain sounds in KDE is to look for a line in /usr/bin/startkde
that begins:
LD_BIND_NOW=kinit +kpanel ... kwrite
and change it to: LD_BIND_NOW=kinit +kpanel ... +knotify kwrite

The ellipses are not actually on the line, they are just indicating that you
add the word "+knotify" before the next-to-last word of the line without
changing anything else.

Personally, I've found the artsd sound server that KDE uses to be not-very
good, but at least you will get sound the majority of the time.
