[Cooker] OFFTOPIC: hdlist.cz generation.

2001-08-30 Thread Arthur H. Johnson II

Is there a way to generate an hdlist from a dir of RPMS? I get alot of
questions regarding KDE 2.2 on Mandrake 8.0 and I would like to just give
them a urmpi source and then auto select. I tried gendistrib, but that
seems to be for regenerating a full distribution, not a small cluster of
files.

Re: [Cooker] capturing boot output

I believe you can pause the screen. dmesg isn't helping?

On Thu, 30 Aug 2001, Reggie Burnett wrote:

how do I go about capturing the output before the kernel loads? I need to
capture the intial console output generated by the intial ramdisk loader.
My beta2 won't boot and the 15 or so lines that stream by are so fast I
 can't read them.

 Thanks

You said: sendmail not set up correctly, so no logs from crond -
syslog, so I assumed you had (or wanted) sendmail installed.

So this looks more like a missing dependency from anacron to
smtpdaemon. Renaud, what do you think ?

[Cooker] Problems with Ext3 install.

2001-08-28 Thread Arthur H. Johnson II

The cooker I am installing from is a mirror preformed 20010825. When I
try an ext3 install, expert mode, selecting all packages possible in the
initial and individual package selection, I get an error stating that it
can not find LABEL=/. Sorry, I fergot the exact error, but that should
suffice I hope. If not, I can try to recreate.

[Cooker] cdrom/images/README incorrect.

2001-08-28 Thread Arthur H. Johnson II

While answering a MandrakeExpert question, I realized that the directory
cdrom/dosutils/autoboot does not exist any more. The README file in
cdrom/images/README should be changed to reflect the new way of booting
Windows based installs.

FOLLOWUP: I did the exact same thing, except selected ReiserFS as the
filesystem, and I did not get the same errors.

One other note, I did switch the theme while selecting packages. I
switched from the default blue, to the green theme.

2001-08-28 Thread Arthur H. Johnson II

Okay, now I tried the install the same options from the first one, except
I did not change the theme. So the problem was when selecting packages I
changed the theme, and it lost what the root label was. Odd.

[Cooker] Problem with DrakX Package Selection

2001-08-25 Thread Arthur H. Johnson II

Sorry, I think this has been reported already, but...

I am testing the 20010824 Cooker DrakX Expert Install, and when I go to
individual package selection the installer locks up. I can move to the
virtual terminal but not anywhere else. I tried to select everything in a
group and it told me it was installing Abiword, Tetex, etc but I could not
click OK.

I install using CD's made from either mkcds in Mk8 or mkcd.pl in

second or third CD. Ichecked to make sure it wasn't a hardware or CD pb.
TTy gives the message *Mounting /dev/hdc on /tmp/image :Invalid argument
at /usr/bin/perl-install/fs.pm line 561, line 14. My system is
totally ext2. I had no pb with this system a week ago. First CD installs
fine with no other pb than what others have reported. Anything further
 needed?

Also, at the end, even after been installing from CD 1, it asked for it,
before rebooting. So I closed the CD-ROM and clicked OK but it asked for
it again. It was CD 1 thou. So I hit cancel ant it rebooted just fine.
