BS''D How i can my mainboard with intel 810 work with XFREE 3.3.6 or 4.0 ? thank you for all what problems do you have? I installed it for a client and it works (although intel 810 is a worst case graphic chip). Best, Daniel.

Re: [Cooker] 7.1 Final ISOs Install Error
BS''D ... sorry in advance for bothering you again with this ... but what's exactly the difference between Hydrogen-Beta3-Install-ISO and the Mandrake-Final-ISO. The latter one is by size bigger (ftp.free.fr) and by date created earlier than the first one -- so there must be some differences. (By the way: the most stable version I tried on my machine is what I created from cooker on Sun 21. May taking off the wrong ldconfig-RPM from May 19) Best, Daniel.

Re: [Cooker] Beta3 dies on install.
BS''D The beta 3 snapshot won't install on my dual pentium II machine. Any idea's? which motherboard do you use? I had similar problems with a "SuperMICR" dual board with Adaptec SCSI controller onboard. After looking for pci devices the installer dies. RedHat 6.2 seems to install everything but dies at the last stage of the install process. Actually I tried to run Debian, Stormix, RedHat and Mandrake on it ... but all attempts vanished. Re: [Cooker] GET READY FOR A DISCUSSION: future distro
BS''D Hi, I would like to make some comments, or better, formulate some personal wishes for a future Mandrake Distro (as once asked by Guillaume): INSTALLING PROCESS: It would be nice to have the following features: o the possibility to save a configuration after having selected all the packages one wishes to install and, vice versa, the possibility to load an own configuration from a floppy to make a duplicate/iterated installation easier (German HeulSuSE for example has these features with "YaST") o when upgrading the system it would be nice to know which packages are outdated and to have the possibility to chose which newer packages to install EMACS/TEX o this mainly is to Chmouel: why Auc-TeX is not included by default into (x)emacs? it is a very small package (964k is the whole bunch of files in /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/auctex/ where lots can be droped out one line "(require 'tex-site)" in ~/.emacs), but is makes it much easier to use (x)emacs for (La)TeX 'think I am not the only (La)TeX user who appreciates these goodies XFONTS/TEX o it would be nice to have Hebrew X-fonts by default (there are not too much of them) o the same would apply to Hebrew TeX-fonts (also a not too big package) But anyway, I like Mandrake more than any other distribution (great work) and I understand that a lot of people have lots of wishes. Re: [Cooker] GET READY FOR A DISCUSSION: future distro
BS''D ... Pixel, that sounds great !! Thanx a lot, ... I'll try it out! Best, Daniel. i posted this a few time ago: you should be able to do this already. The thing to use is defcfg. If you boot with "linux defcfg=floppy" given to syslinux. And put file auto_inst.cfg.pl on fat floppy with: $o = { default_packages = [ qw( lftp urpmi icewm emacs-X11 )] }; then at install, you'll have these packages selected by default. Select the minimum amount of package and you'll get the default_packages anyway (choose expert to be able to select a barest minimum) PS: defcfg is much more powerfull than just selecting packages :) (see mandrake.com/drakx/auto_inst.html for more about auto_inst.cfg) maybe i should add a dialog box in case of defcfg that asks: The following packages are selected, want to choose more? lftp, urpmi, icewm... Yes No

BS''D ... I apologize my last message ... everything's ok I'm just still sleeping after programming the whole night sorry for bothering you! best, Daniel.
Re: [Cooker] BETA 3 ISO
BS''D Hi David, Since the ISO still hasn't gotten up to the mirrors, the question remains, has anyone successfully made an iso using the mkh script, or any other script. I'll send you the script today in the evening, since I'm at work in Germany and live in France. The script I'll send you worked for me properly several times. But anyway I'm still getting depslist.ordered problems ever time I try. in order to get rid of this error message you must do the following: before you separate the files from your cooker mirror into cd1 and cd2 o add "xloadimage" and "ispell-sk" to the officially distributed "rpmslist" (since many packages of the first CD depend on these to packages which are - if not included into "rpmslist" - on the second CD) before you create the package list and the dependencies lists o check if you don't have any two versions of any package in the RPMS/RPMS2 directories; this can happen if you use "wget -rm" since you get all newer versions of the packages and the outdated ones remain in your mirror directory example: you had already downloaded certainpackage-1.2.3mdk.rpm and when updating you get the newer certainpackage-1.2.5mdk.rpm now you'll have both packages in the RPMS directory of your local mirror when creating deplists this produces "depslist.ordered does not match ..." Re: [Cooker] Latest cooker stuff, install issue ldconfig!
BS''D Printer config picked up HP870CSE, but failed to install proper filter. I also tried the latest cooker from rpmfind.net. I couldn't even configure my printer the way I wanted. I got options for a HP LaserJet, text or postscript. The ghostscript printer package didn't get installed. Got through package install and post install routines, and into X config. Detected a Matrox G200 card, presented resoultion options, and then failed test. Tried all different res cmbo's for my monitor and card, none would work. Decided to ignore it, finish install and reboot. libXiso6 libX11so6 lib Xmu so6 lib font.so1 And ldconfig is run at all the right times! have created on Sunday a very fresh mirror update from the cooker ftp server and have burned the 2 CD's ... experienced the same problems It is the latest changes to ldconfig made by Pixel which causes all these problems, since I have burned the same 2 CD's only with the outdated version of ldconfig which has as latest change something made by Chmouel and these problems disappeared The only thing is the icon problem Anton wrote about, the "original" helixcode rpm's don't have these problems Best, Daniel.

BS''D hi there everybody, ... spend the whole night with the f$%§ CD-Creation Unfortunately I still have the same problems as everybody seems to have at this list "depslist.ordered mismatch with hdlist" But anyway, here are some observations: o the " rpmslist" seems to be wrong since during the creation there are announced a lot of unsatisfied dependencies. For example: MySQL, MySQL-client, MySQL-shared-libs and ispell-sk must be added and - most important - xloadimage !! I attached the right version without bugs. o there is a useless locale.dir~ file on the servers it does not harm the iso-creation process but one will get an annoying remark about it o there's a minor bug in Warli's proposal gendepslist2 -o CD1/Mandrake/base/depslist CD1/Mandrake/base/hdlist.cz2 CD1/Mandra/base/hdlist3.cz2 must be changed into gendepslist2 -o CD1/Mandrake/base/depslist CD1/Mandrake/base/hdlist.cz2 CD1/Mandra/base/hdlist2.cz2 Any suggestions? Re: [Cooker] mkh.sh script.
BS''D this is what I wrote before: there is a warning from the script that some packages on CD1 depend on "xloadimage" which is on the second CD there are also some dependencies on MySQL I fixed that ... but anyway the finally produced CD1 comes with the known error message "depslist.ordered mismatch with hdlist" Is there a solution for this??? goofy -- by the way, why do some of the packages on CD1 depend on packages on CD2, wouldn't it make more sense to make sure CD1 is useable alone, and only go to CD2 if some packages on CD2 were requested?) this should never be, and the scripts should warn you if there is dependance CD1-CD2 Guillaume Cottenceau

Let me tell you what happened: MandrakeSoft announced 7.1beta, with a ISO building script. Since the only server with premade ISOs would only transfer at 15k per second (slow...), I downloaded it using rsync. Just by looking at their ISO building script, I immediately knew it would not work. So I rewrote it. It was much better, you didn't have to change paths throughout the entire script. Mandrake also forgot the rpmslist file, which prevented me from doing it. They seemed to refuse to talk to me, just quietly doing things, with no email. I was surprised to see my fixed script show up on their website, with my name on it. Apparently, the

BS''D [anton@bladehawke tmp]$ echo $(which genfilelist) is part of $(rpm -qf \ $(which genfilelist)) /usr/bin/genfilelist is part of rpmtools-devel-1.1-22mdk And, unless I'm sadly mistaken, Warly just posted the compss script as a footnote to his post. ... oh yes, this is my fault ! [Cooker] perl modules
BS''D I had problems with "Hydrogen 7.1 Beta 2" when installing perl some modules: o example of successful installations Apache::ASP LWP::Simple o not working installations Curses Devel::Symdump The error message is (after lots of redefined functions in Curses.c) that "make had returned bad status" All modules worked with "Air 7.0". Any suggestions?? Is this just a perl problem with the new version 5.6 ??? Thanx, Daniel.
