They are probably infected, rather than malicious. Fortunately for me, ieee.org scans all attachments before forwarding to me. Just for info purposes, the "PowerPack Deluxe" version was NOT available in the Walmart store where I purchased "7.2 Complete". -- Danny Cook http://dockside.dhs.org
[Cooker] beta3, emails etc.
1. Happy Birthday to Pixel! Hope you had a great party! 2. To all cookers Thank you for helping to make Mandrake the finest distro available. Without your hard work it would not be what it is today. Version 7.2 looks to be the best ever! 3. There have been bugs in all 3 of the betas I have tried. So what... it is BETA. And the web page plainly states it is not for everyday use. I am glad I have the opportunity to preview them. 4. I personally look forward to my 50 to 100 emails per day. I delete 90% of them. The other 10% go into my keep folder as thay contain something useful for me to use on my 2 Mandrake computers. 5. I purchased 7.0 some time ago. I also purchased 7.1 this past weekend. And I will be purchasing the next release when it becomes available. As a newbie, I have my share of problems but without the support of people such as yourself I would be unable to solve them. As it is now, I get most issues solved and enjoy my linux very much. Thanks again everyone! -- Danny Cook aka Dock^^ http://dockside.dhs.org irc.dockside.org
[Cooker] 7.2 beta install
Hello folks, I downloaded the new 7.2 beta last night and burned it to rom. On booting from the rom, it comes up, I select install, it goes into the scsi scan and then gives the error that it can not mount the ramdisk and is rebooting. I tried this twice on my Celeron 300 and then on a Windows machine. On the Windows machine (PIII-600) I tried letting Windows load first and then inserting the rom. It comes up to a menu but the only option that works from that menu is help. Suggestions anyone? -- Danny Cook http://dockside.dhs.org

[Cooker] hardware question
Hello all, I am getting ready to put my hard drive that has Mandrake 7.1 in to a newer computer. The old system is a P 600 and new system is P700 with a different video and sound card. The motherboards are also different brands. Will or should Mandrake pick up the new hardware changes without too much trouble or should I do a fresh install? Thanks! -- Danny Cook http://dockside.dhs.org
[Cooker] kvirc error
I am getting the following error when setting up kvirc in Mandrake 7.1 kvirc: error in loading shared libraries: kvirc: undefined symbol: event__10QStatusBarP6QEvent Ideas anyone? -- Danny Cook http://dockside.dhs.org
Re: [Cooker] memory detection
Pixel Thank you very much! I added the mem= option to my menu.lst file at it worked great! Thank you again! Danny > > excerpt from my /boot/grub/menu.lst: > > title linux > kernel (hd0,0)/boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/hda1 mem=128M > > cu Pixel.
[Cooker] memory detection
Hello all, I just installed 7.1 on a newer computer and it does not detect my correct memory (256mb) It is showing only 64 mb. Windoze correctly detected the correct amount. I am pretty sure I typed in the correct value at installation. >From what I have read at http://www.mandrakeuser.org/troubles/tquick4.html and http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/hardware/ramdetect.html it is a bios detection problem but can be corrected by editing the lilo configuration file. My question is how can it be fixed when using the grub loader. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks, Danny Cook
