RE: [Cooker] 9.2 ISOs on the mirrors.
LG has finally released their errata and fix for their drives. Are these updated with the newest kernel? Do they have other updates integrated with them? -Evan
RE: [Cooker] What is an LG CD-ROM?
actually, unlike crt screens, it's hard to make an lcd screen without a few dead pixels (only one dead transistors and ...). [ well, on the contrary, high quality crt trinitron screens used to have an horizontal line on them ] Haha, you mean still have horizontal lines (2) across them. I have a 19 Dell Trinitron (P992) that is only about a year old and has had the lines since new. Dead pixels are more common on the cheaper LCD screens but as far as I know, all of them (even the mega $$$) ones have at least a couple dead pixels. -Evan
RE: [Cooker] XFree86 and kernel-secure
Is anybody else having problems with the combination of XFree86 and the latest kernel-secure. I can not start x windows with the latest kernel-secure. Every other kernel works(kernel, kernel-smp, kernel-enterprise). Thanks. Not sure but this may explain why kernel-secure was missing from the RC2 CDs. I was pretty surprised that they included nearly every other kernel but not the secure.
[Cooker] Kernel-Secure missing from 9.2-RC2 ISOs?
I tried to submit this to bugzilla but for some reason it hasn't posted yet. Was it intentional to leave kernel-secure off the Mdk9.2-RC2 isos? Also, when selecting Paranoid (msec 5) during install, the firewall is disabled by default even though I've selected the firewall group during setup. I seem to remember it was locked up by default in 9.0 (please correct me if I'm wrong) -Evan
RE: [Cooker] 9.2 rc2 and bittorrent
In order to have a more solid base, would some of you with good bandwith could get the ISO in advance and let their client up do have everything spreading faster ? -- Warly Also willing to help with my very fast (both up and down) business cable connection. In Canada so that may help some people up here -Evan

RE: [Cooker] OT: MSVC
Is there anyone on this list who has a running copy of MS visual C who would be kind enough to compile a little (very small) application for me? For some reason it was sent to me without a binary. I'll be your best friend... Austin I've got VS.NET 2002 installed if that will work. One of the guys here also has VS6 if it needs to be compiled with an older version. Let me know if you need me to compile it for you. -Evan

[Cooker] Mdk9.0-RC2: Kernel-Secure doesn't boot
Note: I reported this problem over at Mandrake Forum but have been unable to solve it. I've just got a chance to test RC2 today and it still has the same bug as RC1 (I haven't tested the beta versions). I've tested with ReiserFS and Ext3 file systems and both times the kernel won't boot. It simply hangs at Loading reiserfs module (reiserfs) or Loading jbd module (Ext3). On the suggestion of Ranger from Mandrake Forum, I tried with the Ext2 file system and now it now hangs at INIT: version 2.83 booting and must be hard booted to recover (previous times I was able to CTRL-ALT-DEL to restart). The system boot perfectly with the standard kernel. I'd really like to resolve this bug before the final release but don't have the expertise to diagnose the problem further. The test system specs are below. Thanks, Evan Waite --- Test System Specs: Motherboard: MB Jetway 911AF (ya it's an odd one!) Chipset: Intel 810L Video: On-Board Audio: On-Board NIC: 3com 905B Hard Drive: 9GB Maxtor IDE CPU: Celeron 466MHz RAM: 384 MB PC100 Config: (will provide package list if requested) Tried Ext2, Ext3 and Reiser File System Kernel-Secure Kernel Web Server setup (Apache, MySQL, PHP, etc) ---
