Re: [Cooker] Laptop recommendations?
I have been pondering the idea of starting a small business installing and selling Linux on laptops. Does anyone have any idea how much business I may get with such a venture? I am keeping watch of this mailing to see what some of the best laptops would be to use. On Thu, 2002-10-17 at 17:05, Austin Acton wrote: I have a Compaq Armada 3500 (PII-300). Everything on it works perfectly (USB, PCMCIA modem, PCMCIA ethernet, pointer, sound, APM, etc), except the video card. It's a Chips and Technologies 96000 (2MB), and it stinks. It was insanely slow with XFree 3 and it doesn't work at all with XFree 4. Austin

RE: [Cooker] How to Disk Copy a full Installation?
Would it be possible to get a copy of the script? Do you have to install Linux first on each desktop/server, then do the untar? -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, July 14, 2000 9:08 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [Cooker] How to Disk Copy a full Installation? Sure... The way we do it in a university setting to mass install thousands of computers is we tar up the image and untar it over the network to all the new installations. Then with a minor script we change hostnames, etc. Link World wrote: I am a system OEM in Bangalore,India selling systems bundled with Mandrake Linux. I am also experiencing problems with a Lucent Winmodem and 2.2.15. When I attempt to dial, it says there is no dial tone, yet it initializes fine. - Original Message - From: Francis GALIEGUE [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Barry Klein [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, June 02, 2000 12:13 PM Subject: [Cooker] Re: winmodem On Fri, 2 Jun 2000, Barry Klein wrote: winmodems, whatever they may be: they cannot be supported and will probably never be. You should have had many replies to this comment by now, however, I am going to add mine. I have successfully used a Lucent 'winmodem' with Mandrake 7 (as supplied by PC Plus magazine of May 2000). The information and driver was obtained from www.linmodems.org 1. this driver is binary only, so this is not what I call supported. 2. this same driver (I got one too) woes on 2.2.15 - therefore it's not supported on 7.1. losemodems are therefore not supported. -- fg "You can tune a filesystem but you can't tuna fish" (HP/UX' fsck manpage)
