for /proc/pci, that's normal. It's been removed since it's not used. Instead,
i'll put lspci (or something alike).

As for /proc/bus/pci being empty, it's more strange. Do you have something else than
the Smart Array on your pci bus?
Shouldn't cpqarray be insmoded before /proc/array appears?

Anyway you can get the information using another distrib (aka 6.0) or with the
 newt install...

Ok, I will test with 6.0 while the last update (gi_network and mkdinst) failed...:
load the second stage OK, but can't go in grafic mode...
on tty3:
"ERROR ftp.pm did not return a true value at /usr/bin/perl-install/install2.pm line
390."
"ERROR: can't call method "destroy" on an undefined value during global destruction"
this last line occurs 3 times.
on tty1:
"error opening security policy file /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xserver/SecurityPolicy"
"Couldn't load XKB keymap, failing back to pre-XKB keymap"

"GLib-WARNING **: getpwuid_r() failed due to: No such user 0."
"Use of unitialized value at /usr/bin/perl-install/my_gtk.pm line 65 (#1)"
" (W) An undefined value was used as if it were already defined. It was"
" interpreted as a "" or a 0, bur may be it was a mistake. To suppress this"
" warning assign an initial value to your varibles."

"ftp.pm did not return a true value at /usr/bin/perl-install/install2.pm line 390."
"Attemp to free unreferebced scalar during global destruction (#2)"
"Attemp to free unreferebced scalar during global destruction."
"install exited abnormally"

on tty4, all seems correct.

 sorry, i'm putting *now* !

Hi, I am back..
Good and bad news:
good: all is right t'ill scsi detection.
bad: if the onboard controller (ncr53c876) is well detected, the Smart
array is not.
So I pick it in the selection list and here is the result:

on tty5:
a message telling me that there was an error while no device for
partition found...

on tty3:
"bla, bla, bla"
"starting step 'patitionDisks'"
"no scsi avaible"
"Compaq Smart Array controller avaible"
"Error 'Une erreur est survenue pour creer de nouvelles partitions.
"Veuillez verifier votre materiel. at /usr/bin/perl-install/install2.pm
ligne 285"

on tty4
"x bla bla"- detection/init of ncr53876 OK.
"7 cpqarray: Device e11 has been found at 2 0"
"4 Compaq SMART2 driver (v1.0.5)"
"4 Found 1 controller(s)"
"6 cpqarray ida/c0d0: blksz=51é nr_blks=17764320"
"4 ida/c0d0: ida/c0d0p1 ida/c0d0p2 ida/c0d0p4"

He he, I don't ommit this...

NOW the old procedure (from bootnet.img): I think we have found the
miss.
Remember, on tty3:
"Found driver for NCR 53C8xx PCI"
"running /bin/insmod /bin/insmod /modules/ncr53c8xx.o"
"insmod failed!"
and same for the Smart-2/P raid controller

There is a problem, ok, I go on tty2 and try:
# /bin/insmod /modules/cpqarray.o
/tmp/cpqarray.o: kernel-module version mismatch
/tmp/cpqarray.o was compiled for kernel version 2.2.11-BOOT
while this kernel is version 2.2.10-BOOT
#

Ye, perhaps the soluce is giving us a "bootnet.img" with kernek
2.2.11...
I would stay before my mail screen for load as soon as possible your new
version.

Thank's for your work

[Cooker] Cooker or 6.1b

1999-08-30 Thread PRIILOT Michel

Hello,

"bootnet.img" for cooker is buils with a old kernel 2.2.10-BOOT (and at
stage2 teh insmod fail!)..
Question: Why the "bootnet.img" of mandrake 6.1b is build with the
good kernel (2.2.11-BOOT) ?
Can I use it for the actual cooker ?
(Sometimes, hen we test panoramix, it can be
a goodies for checking and/or explain some
anomaly).

thank for quick answer.
