Re: [Cooker] RSYNC - Please help
I tried rsync -av rpmfind.net::linux/MandrakeCooker under *coff* *coff* Windows and it works. Re: [Cooker] Oxygen upgrade difficulties
If, like me, don't want to keep on installing o/s such as *cough* windows every time, then getting another hard drive or 2 is ideal. a little expensive I know.but a price to pay for retaining data. The following dialog states that /dev/hda2 is not a valid root partition and that I should select another. I am then informed there is no valid root partition, and it sends me back to the inability to read partition table dialog. This occurs both in Custom and Expert modes. My partition table is attached as is the dmesg output and the relevant messages from the third VC. /dev/hda2 is indeed not a root partition, it mounts as /boot (as many people who must dual boot have done due to BIOS limitations). But, I am not being given the option of selecting the correct partition. - Content-Type: text/plain; name="unnamed" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: - - Content-Type: text/plain; name="unnamed" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: - - Content-Type: text/plain; name="unnamed" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Description: - - -- Sent from: Lattitude (deg): 32.7130 Longitude (deg): -117.1530 Altitude (ft): 410.0 GMT to Local (hrs): -8.0 (daylight savings enabled) - Created with Linux-Mandrake 6.1! http://www.linux-mandrake.com/ Currently Beta Testing Mandrake Ver 7.0 (CODE NAMED: OXYGEN) -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: PGP 6.5.1 iQA/AwUBOGnqmJWnEdBpryyVEQLY6ACgqrkzI+SMhWSmaFkKr3VV4lwo7DsAoPgR 0G/c6mhW8dt70x15tbuFGthF =Dpq5 -END PGP SIGNATURE-
Re: [Cooker] Installing for default boot to 2.2.14-11
First of all, you will need to ensure that you are using 2.2.13 as your base kernel source tree (not necessarily as your default kernel). Once done, copy the patched kernel to /usr/src/source-tree directory and type in the following:- if the file is a .gz file type gzip -d patch-file.gz. If the file is a .gz2 file sorry I don't know how to do this. once the file has been decompressedtype patch -p1 patch-file NOTE: replace the word patch-file with the name of the file you are using. I think the -d command works with gzip2but don't quote me on this. - Original Message - From: "Deven Phillips" [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, December 29, 1999 8:31 PM Subject: [Cooker] Installing for default boot to 2.2.14-11 How do I perform the install in a manner that will allow me to install the 2.2.14 patched kernel as my default?
[Cooker] rsyncing under windows
I know it is a crime to do this, especially whilst this is a linux discussion group. But I have managed to get rsync working under evil windows. For those of you who don't know what rsync is but know what ftp is. Just imagine ftp with muscle power. Rsync does everything that ftp should have done from the start, which include compressing files whilst downloading. Recursive downloading (i.e. downloading subdirectories). Rsyncing on any platform rules. (linux communityforgive me for my sins, as I was only experimenting). BTW, I am downloading the latest contributions directory for mandrake 7. Prashant.
