You have pointed out that you can use SU, I have already tried using SU when logged on as a user, it does not always work, especially for programs like Linuxconf or the mandrake control centre, they say you must be logged on as root. I know that there is a warning when logging into KDE that using root is done at your own risk So having learnt most of the system the hard way and not used to the command line structure of unix are we saying that it is tough if you are a newbie and don't know any of the command line functions? and that the end user no longer has the choice to logon graphically as root, I thought we weren't trying to be like Microsoft? I may be in the minority here but believe users should have the choice on how to logon and not have it restricted, especially seeing as you can unhide root anyway!
