[Cooker] OFFTOPIC: hdlist.cz generation.

2001-08-30 Thread Arthur H. Johnson II

Is there a way to generate an hdlist from a dir of RPMS? I get alot of
questions regarding KDE 2.2 on Mandrake 8.0 and I would like to just give
them a urmpi source and then auto select. I tried gendistrib, but that
seems to be for regenerating a full distribution, not a small cluster of
files.

So this looks more like a missing dependency from anacron to

The cooker I am installing from is a mirror preformed 20010825. When I

initial and individual package selection, I get an error stating that it
can not find LABEL=/. Sorry, I fergot the exact error, but that should

FOLLOWUP: I did the exact same thing, except selected ReiserFS as the
filesystem, and I did not get the same errors.

One other note, I did switch the theme while selecting packages. I
switched from the default blue, to the green theme.

Okay, now I tried the install the same options from the first one, except
I did not change the theme. So the problem was when selecting packages I
changed the theme, and it lost what the root label was. Odd.

[Cooker] Problem with DrakX Package Selection

Sorry, I think this has been reported already, but...

I am testing the 20010824 Cooker DrakX Expert Install, and when I go to
individual package selection the installer locks up. I can move to the
virtual terminal but not anywhere else. I tried to select everything in a
group and it told me it was installing Abiword, Tetex, etc but I could not

That's why I ran lilo before attemting to reboot. This told me that the
initrd image was missing, so I created one. Make sure when the kernels
get updated that you can run lilo, otherwise your looking at a rescue!

You'd have to try. The kernels etc on the boot disk are compiled with
-march=pentium, but that means only that the compiler MAY use pentium
specific instructions when they make sense. For a number of packages, this
is NOT the case...

Is there a makefile or script for creating i486 install images? I
need to install several i486 machines.

After rebooting from a backup floppy, I see that mingetty is reporting
"tty1: invalid character" in the message log, apparently when I try to login.
