[Cooker] [Bug 5859] [initscripts] Improve startup speed (solution in this report)
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=5859 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-21-09 09:27 --- I've done some tests with those services activated... Time (in secondes) to get into logon screen (X) (from the "entering runlevel 5"): old system : 16, new system 16 Time to get into console logon screen (without X => without dm script) : old system : 10, new system 8 My overall comment is that even if the X logon screen doesn't come faster (in my case), all the services are ready faster. Personnaly I think the new way of doing stuff is good, because we can really just tells the dependance and the system will do the work for you. Another good thing is the follow : sometimes when I'm not connected to the network, the network service take long time to start (10-20 secondes), and meanwhile other services does not start. With the new system such things won't happen anymore (at least the services that does not depend on the network one will start). Got the same problem with the service that mount smb network share for instance. ls /etc/init.d/rc5.d/ K85vpnclient_init@ S12syslog@ S20xfs@S45irda@ S90crond@ S03iptables@S13partmon@ S25netfs@ S56xinetd@S92lisa@ S05harddrake@ S17alsa@ S26apmd@ S60cups@ S99devfsd@ S10network@ S18sound@S30dm@ S60nfs@ S99linuxconf@ S11portmap@ S20random@ S40atd@S75keytable@ S99local@ -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: I've tested and it's working for me ! [Cooker] [Bug 2901] [freeciv] Window focus/backgound/foreground problem
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2901 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-08 10:39 --- I've done some additionnal tests... What is strange for me is that under kde and icewm the widget style is not the same as under gnome. Under gnome FreeCiv has the look and feel of Mandrake Galaxy theme for the widget, but under kde or icewm the widget have the look and feel of standard gtk (by stantard I mean old one, with grey and "square" button). Note that on kde I've set the Galaxy theme for the widget and all other kde application are "Galaxy"... I suppose it is normal because gnome is based on gtk ... I've tried tochange the theme under gnome but it changes nothing. Do you have tried freeciv under gnome 2.2.0 ? do you have the same problem ? --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: Some windows stay in the foreground even if other window that have the focus are behind. In other word, some windows are always behind others. To see this, click on a city to open the dialog city, and then click on an unit to open the unit dialog, you will see that the unit dialog sty behind the city dialog even if it has the focus. To access the unit dialog I have to move it in a place where the city dialog doesn't hide it. This problem is not related to city-unit dialogs only, but also for many others dialog.

http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2901 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-07 22:50 --- I'm using gnome 2.2.0 You are right, when you open "city dialog" and "tax/luxury/science dialog" there is no problem. But if you open "city dialog" and you click on a unit in the city, the "unit dialog" appear, but in the background, you can have same problem opening "buy dialog" in the city... I've tested on kde 3.1 and no problem.
