Re: [Cooker] {RPM] webalizer-1.30.05-1mdk

I have been using 2.00.12 since April. Yes, it is in pre-lreases but so
are many GNU packages such as dhcpd (from ISC) BIND, and many others.

No, it's not. Check http://www.mrunix.net/webalizer/download.html and
you'll find that 2.0 is still in pre-release state, where as 1.30.05 is
 stable.

I think I got it from cooker, or directly from the webalizer web site..

Nope, not from cooker. Maybe from the webalizer site, but that's not a
 Mandrake rpm.

[Cooker] bash-readline real problem

2000-06-11 Thread jwd

The real problem with the changes to bash and moving libreadline to /lib
(BTW, bash requires libhistory, too) is that bash prior to 2.04-4mdk had
both libreadline and libhistory as static links and at leat one person
pointed out that this was a good thing. You could always get bash going
before this change was made.

Instead of really looking at the porblem we got a reaction to the
symptom and someone moved readline to /lib. The problem was not with
readline but with bash. Now we find that moving readline to /lib causes
other problems.

please -- a little attention to detail here. Bash needs to be fixed not
readline.

I put in my install disk and typed rescue.
then I did:
my / is on /dev/hda1
my /usr is on /dev/hda5
So ...
mount -t ext2 /dev/hda1 /mnt
mount -t ext2 /dev/hda5 /mnt/usr
cp -a /mnt/usr/lib/libreadline.so.4.1 /mnt/lib/
cp -a /mnt/usr/lib/libhistory.so.4.1 /mnt/lib/
shutdown -r now

I acn only run linux with the rescue disk = very little possibilities.

Re: [Cooker] ipx-utils

actually all that is really needed is:

alias net-pf-4 ipx

added to /etc/conf.modules

If you want IPX in the kernel not as a module then you need to
recompile.

[Cooker] Oxygen Xconfigurator gets my Graphic card wrong

1999-12-30 Thread jwd

Oxygen Xconfigurator-4.2.10-3mdk probes my PCI graphic card as a Cirrus
Logic GD 5467. I have a 5465.
I tried it with the 4.2.10-2mdk and things were still wrong and X would
not start. I cat /proc/pci saw the that is was a 5465 vs. a 5467 and
used XF86Setup to mannually pick the card. I was able to startx and then
i was able to tweak things using xvidtune to make it all work.

[Cooker] Oxygen needs an ntp update

You include xntp3-5.93 this is very old (Apr 1998) The latest rev is:
ntp-4.0.98i with a 29 Dec 1999 date. RH has had the ntp-4 series RPMs in
rawhide for a while (since this summer).

this is just a suggestion.

BTW, Oxygen is very nice. Great job. Pixel's hacks allowed me to
upgrade from a hard drive (something I said was a bug when Cassini was
in beta). Good job, Pixel. I hope you move what Pixel did into Oxygen

[Cooker] Hard Disk Upgrade fails

1999-12-15 Thread jwd

I fmirrored cooker. I ran genhdlist, dd the harddisk boot disk.

I picked upgrade vs. install and expert and normal. I never got a chance
to pick any packages it stopped with an error saying something to the
effect of a problem with /tmp/hdimage/etc/mtab.
i have three partitions /dev/hda1 = / /dev/hda5 = /usr and /dev/hdb1
= /home. i have tried putting the cooker directory on /dev/hdb1 and it
errored and i tried in on /dev/hda1 (i re-gendhlist) and this errored.

The hard disk upgrade fails. I have not tried a hard disk install.
This same problem existed in Cassini and reported this. It got assigned
number 108. I have yet to find out what if anything was done about
this.
