No activity has been seen on this bug since 20030221 and it is still in UNCONFIRMED
state. This probably means that the information provided was not clear enough, or
that the bug is not valid anymore. Please test and confirm that this bug is still
valid with the latest cooker version, or close it.

I just posted to bug 1894 which I think is similar.
This problem DOES still exist in 9.2 RC2

It occurs when:
 - a package is selected which has dependencies
 - the Dependencies list pop-up window appears
 - the user selects OK before the information box (hidden
under the pop-up window), has refreshed with the information
   from the package in question.

Since the pop-up box is immediate and the information box can take up to 15
seconds to update, it is very easy to jam the system this way if you are
clicking packages you know you want installed! This one definitely needs
fixing!

- openssh_server

[Cooker] [Bug 1849] [Installation] Problem installing packages

I just downloaded RC2 and tried to install, and faced similar difficulties. I
see though, that there are a couple other threads talking about the package
problem (2014, 1849, 2344, 2488)
Mandrake 9.2 RC2
I choose full install.
Went to individual package selection.
When selecting some packages, a popup with dependancies window appears which
has an OK and a CANCEL button. A timing issue is apparantly one factor on
this bug. I initially simply clicked OK when the window popped up and (for a
number of packages, but not all) the machine froze for 30 seconds or more,
finally dumping me back into the package overview screen. Later I noticed
that the pop-up window appeared often, way before the information box to the
right had updated. After I noticed this and specifically waited until the
information box (partially covered by the popup window) had updated before
clicking the ok button, all proceeded as expected.
(In fact, I just tried again to install - my first attempt failed due to too
many errors with package installation - I can confirm that if I carefully
waited to see the infobox update before clicking 'ok' I had no trouble.
Clicking OK sooner leads to freezes, and a dump back into the first package
screen.)

Going to the select specific packages during the installation routine, then
clicking on the two arrows in a circle (the show all packages button), I noticed
this bug when installing packages with requirements. If one does a minimal
install then selects all the packages one wants this bug should appear (I tried
it 5 times, 3 of which I got the bug). When the requirements box pops up one
can click ok or cancel. If the bug occurs one can click the ok button and
nothing will happen, and sometimes when one clicks the cancel button (when the
bug occurs) it will go back to the group package selection page.
Also when clicking on back in any of the screens after the group package
selection but before package installation any changes made manually to the
packages selected will be erased and all packages in the groups selected will be
selected for install again.

[Cooker] [Bug 2669] [Installation] Could not uncompress second state ramdisk.

I posted over on bug 1611 because that's what came up when I did a search. I
have the same problem except that I have no idea what the kernel messages
were. In my case, I seriously doubt there are hardware errors on my
computer. I get the same problem with several different CD drives, and trying
to install Mandrake RCs are the only place it happens. I did not post this
error during betas or RC1, because I have an hpt374 ide controller and never
got close to second stage until RC2.

The log window shows:

The kernel messages show:

This computer has an ASUS A7N8X motherboard with the integrated
NVIDIA nForce 2 chipset. It also has an AMD XP 2000 CPU.
BTW, I get the same errors when trying to install Mandrake 9.0.
I currently have Mandrake 8.1 installed
but I installed it on my drive using a different computer.

I have the same problem. Just tried to install RC2.
In standard mode, I get the following:
'trying to access Mandrake Linux CDRom Disk'
'Could not uncompress second stage ramdisk. This is probrably a hardware
error while reading the data. (This may be caused by a hardware failure or a
linux kernel bug.'

in expert mode, reading the logs, I get:
*Found a Mandrake Linux CDRom Good News!
*Trying to load /tmp/image/Mandrake/base/mdkinst_stage2.bz2 as Ramdisk
*reading compressed ramdisk: IO-error
*unsetting automatic

I can't recover from this.

[Cooker] [Bug 880] [kernel] Can't boot because of HighPoint HPT370 RAID

I'm just wondering why this is resolved. I posted what was origionally
bug#789 and it was sent here as a duplicate of this #880. The fact remains
that I still can NOT install Mandrake 9.1 on my machine with a hpt374
controller even though the drives being used are connected to it as ATA133 and
not RAID. If I'm still at a dead-end on even installing, I'm curious as to
why this is 'resolved'.

apic IS off on my motherboard, but I still have the problem where RC1 says it
can't find the CDRom it is reading from, and none of the modules I tried
(which are available in the selection box which pops up after it tells you it
can't find the CD drive) make any difference.

I remembered I hadn't re-flashed my bios after an incident last month, so i
just tried the beta3 again with the new bios (with the hpt374 updated to
1.22a). I got MUCH farther this time. I still couldn't install because it
said I didn't have a CDRom (even though it was reading from the CD !?!?), but
I checked in the logs, and it had found my hard drives just fine!
