[Cooker] [Bug 4843] [Installation] New: 9.2 beta 2 won't install on Radeon 9000 equiped machine

   Product: Installation
 Component: X
Summary: 9.2 beta 2 won't install on Radeon 9000 equiped machine
   Product: Installation
   Version: 1.820
  Platform: PC
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: P2
 Component: X
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Possibly this one is related to a whole range of other Radeon related problems
[bug 3050, bug 2741?]

Installation of 9.2 beta 2 fails on my computer.

Xfree server cannot be installed/configured. The Radeon 9000 is recognized, i
can configure each of its heads, but Installer gives NOT CONFIGURED for Xfree
server and cannot be concluded.

Marking it major, because this stops me from using Mandrake

[Cooker] [Bug 4826] [Installation] New: rawwritewin.exe default window 1size is wrong

2003-08-20 Thread [patrickhendriks]

Summary: rawwritewin.exe default window 1size is wrong
   Product: Installation

My typical Mandrake installation sequence is as follows:
- download the ISO's
- extract them to files on the harddrive
- make boot disk using hd.img in combination with rawwritewin.exe
- start installing.

However for 9.2 Beta 2 the step involving rawwinwrite is broken. Once the
program failed to write to disk. Second attempt on same disk worked. In addition
to that, the default window size for the app is too small. Running it on my
WinXP comp at 1280x1040 the main buttons such as WRITE and EXIT are not displayed.

I see this too and also see bug 3045.

This feature REALLY still is broken in 9.1 RC2, please confirm this bug.

It doesn't make a difference if you can change the options afterwards still.
Either the BACK button should do what it says [take you back] or the button
shouldn't be there.

Some examples:
In Package selection, check the box for individual package selection, click
NEXT, click NEXT. In the SERVICES to start at boot time window, click BACK, and
you'll end up at the main package selection screen, and not the previous
[individual] package selection screen.

When adding Users, click NEXT, on the next screen [boot loader] click previous
and you go FORWARD w/o setting the boot loader.

In earlier versions (9.0 prior), it was possible for most options to back up
to an earlier screen in the install to re-do settings (often needed when some
setting failed). In the 9.1 installer it is necessary to reboot the system to
change installer options. The prior capability should be added back in.

[Cooker] [Bug 242] [OpenOffice.org] Mandrake 9.0 RC2 OpenOffice, problem launching

I had a similar problem, starting from the command line gave me the idea that
one of the rpms was missing. Turns out one of the rpms
[OpenOffice.org-l10n-en-1.0.2-5mdk.i586.rpm] is on cd3. Typically i have
everything set to English-US [whatever that may be ;)] and the first two cd's
are sufficient.

Perhaps this package ordering might lead to problems?

Hi folks, I have some guy at mandrakeexpert that has trouble with OpenOffice
install on RC2 I tried to reproduce the error, but on my machine I don't get
that problem, but I ahev a german installation with OpenOffice.org + german
localization for OpenOffice he has got english, here is the problem:

1. Did a fresh install of RC2 on a 2 Gb hardisk
2. Installed Openoffice through Mandrake Control Center
a. K-Menu again mixed up
b. K-panel, icons don't work
3. Restored the K-menu
a. OpenOffice can be started from the menu
4. Rebooted the system
a. K-menu still oke
b. K-panel restored itself, icons working again
c. Cann't start Open office from the K-Menu
5. OPen Office can only be started in a terminal window as superuser
The bugs are twofold:
- messing up the K-menu tree and k-panel
- After reboot OPenOffice can only be started as superuser

Thanks for checking it out.

Linux-phased, Mandrakeexpert

When attempting to upgrade to the new Mandrake 9.1b package on 1/10/03, I
specified detailed package selection. Some of the dropdown lists were longer
than the selection panel, and I was unable to scroll to the end of them. After
attempting this, the buttons below the panel vanished, and I was unable to
continue the installation and had to reboot. A subsequent without detailed
package selection succeeded.

The artsd seemed to block the sound when i tried to use xmms. Turning off artsd
makes xmms play.

However, the listings show the audigy as the first entry, but playback occurs
over the es1371 card.

Both are detected as should, but i can't seem to get any sound out of them. Same
setup worked on Mandrake 8.2. This has been broken from at least 9.0 beta 2 and up.
