I created 2 partitions on a blank 8gb disk at work, 2gb primary, rest extended, drive d 2gb. I then ran the install on a pc at work and it had no complaints about the disk. I aborted the installation once it had formatted the disk, took the drive home and attached it to my primary raid channel as the boot disk. I tried passing pci=noacpi but it didn't fix the problem. It meant my USB mouse
stopped working at the license screen and it took longer to get to the errors.
I also tried noapic but that didn't help.
From Alt-F4 i did see some error messages
hde dma_initr status = 0xff {busy}
dma disabled
ide2 reset timedout
drive not ready for command
