I spent 5 hours last weekend (with a friend in Belgium) getting his USB ADSL modem working. Its not a SpeedTouch, but an ASUS AAM6000UG, it uses the SpeedTouch driver; and I would only work with 2.4.21-13mdk. I can't tell you for certain whether it is the speedtch driver or just the amload firmware uploader, as the uploader would not work on any kernel other than the stock 9.1 kernel.
