Really xine need to be put in main distro ! mdksoft aims to touch desktop user at first stage. What will do a desktop user when he will install Linux ? + first try a little, try to go to internet + listen mp3 on his win partitions + he know that there's not many games ( on top of that Loki is dead ), so he will not really try, maybe CS with wine or RTCW + but before games and after mp3 : divx and if it's good, he will try a DVD -- http://perso.wanadoo.fr/linux_wizard/index.html - L'absence est le plus grand des maux. -- Jean de La Fontaine, Les Deux Pigeons

[Cooker] 8.2 + multimedia ( divx ) support
I've just read the contents of the 2 Cd and ... I wasn't able to see a player for divx. So what does mdksoft plan to do concerning multimedia/divx support ? This lack a lot ! XP have manty many features and if a mdk box is not able to read divx out of the box, I think that most new users will be disappointed because after they will have to compile stuff. Is there a pb to include xine + divx4 support ( from OpenDivx or ffmpeg ) - DeCSS support + D4D support ? We will have at least a player with a nice GUI that can read unencrypted DVD and DivX I see also that noatun can read Divx if someone installed mpeglib with divx support ( http://mpeglib.sourceforge.net/ ) So what's the point ? -- http://perso.wanadoo.fr/linux_wizard/index.html - Elaine Miller: Look at this: an entire generation of Cinderellas and no glass slipper. -- Almost Famous
