Re: [Cooker] 9.0 BETA - Bug report / Installation - Upgrading RC1->RC2

2002-09-12 Thread Richard Tango-Lowy

I had the same problem after my rc1-to-rc2 upgrade. I rebooted into
failsafe mode, and harddrake popped up in text mode. I accepted the
defaults and a bunch of the other draktools came up one by one
afterward. Once through those, it booted correctly and has worked since.

I don't think the boot should just hang if one of the tools runs. It
needs to give a prompt or something.

When upgrading from RC1 to RC2 on my system, my system hung on the first boot
also, with the same message:
Init: Entering runlevel:5
Entering non-interactive startup

My system is working ok now, but that is because I did a complete, fresh
install of RC2, even formatting my /home partition to make sure everything
was clean. I haven't seen any show stoppers yet.

 dabopot : 11/09 02:21 : Incident created Upgrading
process:
1. My HP1200 is feeding a paper with 2 a:s writen on it in
one of the first phases of the installation.
2. What information is given and what is expected from the
user when showing the packagewindow during upgrade? (I did
nothing t i proceeded)

Result: There came many new alternatives on the starting
menu. The positive side was that the the default alternativ
(in my case Windows) was not chaged. The bad thing was that
the alternative Linux hanged after displaying:
Init: Entering runlevel:5
Entering non-interactive startup

The hanging could be broken out of with ctl alt delete. Next
I started an alternativ named 2419-7 (as i write this I
checked with the configuration tool and found that it is the
same as old_linux). The result was that after showing the
graphical menu for logging in a few seconds the system went
out in textmode. After I had logged in and writen startx KDE
was started OK.
