Fresh install on desktop machine (VIA KT266A, Athlon TB 1.4Go)

1. The plug-and-play detection for screen is very nice, but is wrong with me. I
have a Iiyama Vision Master Pro 452, it is correctly recognized, but sets the
vertical refresh to only 60Hz at 1280x960 or 1280x1024, whereas it can go up to
85Hz at these resolutions. If I choose that monitor in the list of vendors, it
correctly sets the highest refresh rate.
BTW, the new XFdrake is brilliant, but lacks a man page.

2. I have a usb mouse (Logitech Whell mouse optical), but it does not work
because devfs does not create a /dev/usbmouse link. At each boot, I have to run
mousedrake in console to have it working.

2. Where is the usb group ? I have trouble to use a digital camera with gtkam or
digikam, because I can only use it as root. In mandrake 8.2, there was a usb
group I could assign to my user to be able to use the camera. A ls
/proc/bus/usb/001 shows that they belong to the group 43. I created a usb group
with Linuxconf with the ID number 43, and added that group to my user name, but
it did not work anyway.

BTW, that would be nice if userdrake was able to manage the groups, like in
Linuxconf.

3. urpmi hangs sometimes, but finishes its job after 3-4 minutes, very strange.
Moreover, it can't open my CDROM like before (a CDR-W yamaha 4001t IDE on
secondary master). It gives an error message. I have another DVDROM on secondary
slave, that was used to install the distro, since it is faster.

3bis. That would be nice if it was possible to change the CDROM drive to use for
urpmi. I know it is possible to edit the urpm config file, but this would be
nice if it was possible from the command line or the gui.

4. The new rpmdrake is not really my taste. I prefered the previous one, with
everything integrated : sources, install/remove, update. Moreover, there is no
"search by file name anymore". Of course, there is the line command with urpmf,
but I think that the GUI was nice. Now it is too limited, even for newbies.
Maybe it would be possible to switch between the old one and the new simplified
version ?

5. I have troubles to compile some softwares by myself, like digikam-0.5,
kiofoto3-0.3.1 or gtkam-0.1.9. I obtain a syntax error. Is this a problem with
the new gcc3.2 compiler ? However, mplayer compiles correctly.

Otherwise, things work fine.
