I had the same problem.
You do not need to use the alias if edit you /etc/init.d/alsa:
replace line 78 in /etc/init.d/alsa:
old: if /sbin/modprobe $line /dev/null 21; then
new: if /sbin/modprobe snd-$desc /dev/null 21; then

This only happened to me on a system using an onboard CMedia snd,
I had no problem on systems using an SBLive.
