Nah. There are also a lot of people from other countries working on
mandrake, or any other *nix distro/whatever. *nix is created on the
internet. Nationality is no longer the reason people choose one distro
 or the other.

Then switching from MS to a Free software distro...

Indeed, we see RH with high profit and many big contract, Suse with big
announcement and Mandrake with

I just wonder is it a problem with French government ? Not enough
support from him ? Are they going to do like for Bull ? let it die in a
lethargy ?
I don't understand why mandrake and Bull don't join their force to
promote a solution in server place as mdk seems to have the competence.
Clic may be a good beginning if and only if a construtor is behind them
assurring support.
We ( French as I'm French ) we let die concorde, our army is in a bad
way with it's equipment, we let die Vivendi, we put FT in a bad
situation, we lost STMicrolectronics. We believe more in free market
than U.S.A where governement help some of their enterprise , not with
subvention but with contracts ( more efficient ). And in France ?
Someone lmay tell me, Linux is for every country, etc ...
But does nobody notice that countries are using linux and distribution
never refuse to assume their origin ? everybody know that Suse is a
german distibution, they're first in germany and have big contract with
... Germany administration. The same for RH ( U.S army, N.Y.S.E, ... ).
There's also Red Flag, etc ...
MandrakeSoft make very good products. For some things they are not
enough pro, and their marketing is no efficient enough. No money, so
take commercial with % rush on administration, rush everywhere ( France,
Quebec, Africa, francophone countries ). Push hard. Make custom products
for them, open or mid-open, but please live.
Community spirit is great but when you will die we will only have RH or
Suse :(

Of course there are developers from other countries, but Mandrake is a french company
as
same as SuSE is a german one (Originaly at least).

Spoken as a true idealist. Nationality is not The reason but is a reason to
choose the local champion.

That is certainly true, but if I'm the French government, I'd certainly
consider Mandrake before Red Hat (definitely) and SuSE, as the money
stays in France.
