You could check your session (in the gnome control panel) for processes
named pam-panel-icon. If you have more than one, remove the restart

I've noticed that in GNOME whenever you use the control center that the
authorization "keys" on the task bar multiply.  They double every time I
access any thing that requires authorization.  Any clue as to how to fix
this?
