You can edit the file /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/fonts.dir and change mdk_08_koi8.pcf.gz -mdk-helvetica-medium-r-normal--8-80-75-75-p-49-koi8-r mdk_10_koi8.pcf.gz -mdk-helvetica-medium-r-normal--10-100-75-75-p-59-koi8-r to mdk_08_koi8.pcf.gz -mdk-helvetica-medium-r-normal--8-80-75-75-p-49-koi8-u mdk_10_koi8.pcf.gz -mdk-helvetica-medium-r-normal--10-100-75-75-p-59-koi8-u but those are two small helvetica-like fonts; that won't help when fixed fonts are requested for example. > Also, could you provide a locale switching facility in the drak* tools? After the cooker installation I installed all cyrillyc-related rpms I could find in the Cooker RPMS directory, but it didn't help. Are the new fonts going to make it into mandrake 7.1? Why weren't the Ukrainian fonts used in DrakX installed? Also, could you provide a locale switching facility in the drak* tools? Type 'xlsfonts | grep koi8-u' to see if you already have some koi8-u fonts. Until very recently koi8-u support doesn't even existed in X11 (Linux-Mandrake 6.1 was I think the first distribution to provide it); now there is support, but fonts are still lacking. If you have some unicode encoded TTF fonts you can use them (I use Arial and Lucida Console myself, however while free to use they are not free to distribute, eg we can't include them on our CDs). Hi, I just network-installed Cooker from rpmfind.net and ran into a couple of annoying bugs. 1. I selected Ukrainian locale during the install and everything was fine, until I started X. Everything was displayed in Ukrainian, but using Western charset. That make it very hard to read. Console fonts display MC fine in Ukraining but in Xterm even console programs don't work.
