The soft dir is fine, the SPEC dir is behind, I just did an update and 
nothing changed. Example GCC is still 2.96-33 instead of -34, the kernel 2.4 
is still 2.4.0-12.

What make you think that ? It's the main repository so it can't be
outdated...

I was using www.mandrakesoft.com for CVS and it was working great and was up 
to the minute. It stopped working and I was told to remove the www., I did 
this and recreated the CVS of SPECS and soft, now they are at least 1+ weeks 
behind.
