Depends how close you are to your mirror. When you are 100Mb away, it is
about as fast as writing the images to CD and doing a CD install.

Use the first ISO of any release (we assume the user would have at least
one recent copy of Mandrake on CD) and when you get to package selection,
unselect everything, you will then be asked for a "minimal with X",
"minimal with urpmi", or "truly minimal, no urpmi", obviously choose the
2nd one.

IMHO, a minimal ISO with current kernel and enough of DrakX to show what
hardware was successfully detected would be more useful, as it might
enable more people to test betas/RCs on their hardware, without any of the
complications or bandwidth of actually installing or running it.

I suggested to create a mini-iso that contains only the files just to do
that some time ago. Maybe I should suggest it again. Preferably one
that keeps working from release to release so you can use to same iso
to install 9.1 9.2 10.0 etc.

Not more than downloading the full ISO containing the packages.
Anyway, any install should always be minimal, with just urpmi.

If you do a network install from the internet then i would do a really minimal
install without even kde because it takes a looong time.

Install cooker directly by network, unless you already have a 9.1 running.
