[Cooker] Meta-Packages ?

2003-01-13 Thread Steffen Barszus
Hi!

I thought a bit today and asked me if it could be possible to build meta
packages for some tasks. The way I think of :

provides: nothing
requires: needed packages for several tasks

For instance :

urpmi kde-desktop would installs a bunch of kde-packages
urpmi mandrake-development installs gcc / gcc-c++ kernel-header and so on.
urpmi mandrake-simple-desktop could provide an small kde-desktop with only one
programm for each task .

Would this be worth a thought for maybe 9.2 or so ?

WDYT ?

Regards

Steffen

I'd support doing this for the devel packages, e.g. bison/flex/gcc/binutils
and so on. This has been discussed for several times but nobody is in a
position that can take action.

GNOME has this already done, as gnome2 package.
