Sorry to ask this too late, but perhaps for the future...
Why that versioning ? 2.4.21.0.1 looks newer that 2.4.21. 

You could have chosen the Xfree numbering, it works fine. For example
2.4.20.90.X-Ymdk, for -preX versions, with Y changing as you update things or
  patches not in plain pre.
2.4.20.99.X-Ymdk, for -rcX

Just an idea...
