This URL is faulty. In any case this site does not appear to include
cooker.

Hooray! I hope you can get them all synchronised with respect to their
mandrake file structures so that we can easily change and compare
mandrake mirrors. Hooray!

Nice one Jacques - that URL is no good for rsync...
rsync -anvz
rsync://jungle.metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux/distributions/mirror/mandrake1/Mandrake-devel/
  Welcome to distro.ibiblio.org's rsync server!

You may mirror any of our distributions by using the "distros"
module. Simply append the name of the distribution you would
  like to use. For example:

  rsync -avr distro.ibiblio.org::distros/bluelinux/ /local/path/

If you will, please subscribe to our mirror announcement list:
  http://lists.ibiblio.org/mailman/listinfo/ibiblio-mirrors

If you have problems or questions,

  Thanks!

Re: [Cooker] Re: Mirrors

2002-02-24 Thread Robert Fox

There is NO way to determine which mirrors are the most up-to-date.

Some are quite behind and the two main ones (albeit not very reliable)
are usually the most up-to-date.

Unless someone tracks these or rates the mirros in order of performance
and recent-ness, it always a hit or miss whether you get a rcent copy
downloaded. And it is very depressing to download 2+Gig of data to find
out it's old or no good.

There should be a better system. I think that with the new relationship
between HP and Mandrake, maybe HP could help in this department (ie:
donating equipment to improve the mirroring) - call me crazy.

Peter,

Please avoid using Unininett and Sunet. There is more than 50 mirrors
available. If you want we can provide you the list of all mirror so you
can check the mirror that fit better your needs.

You can try this one for example:
ftp://jungle.metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux/distributions/mirror/mandrake1/Mandrake-devel/

(we are working to get a better URL).

We are also working to add more and more reliable and up to date mirror.

Jacques.

therefore the local Cooker is always outdated.

Peter,

It's should be fixed soon on sunsite.uio.no - it was a place problem -
the FTP mainteneur suppress Mandrake-iso to make place.
For sunet it's also fixed - it's was a symbolic link mistake.
