I realize this.  A case was made only just a couple of days ago that
the freeze for a given package was broken due to the fact that the
package broke.  Pan breaks.  Very regularly.  Even just threading
articles from the local disk cache, it hangs about 50% of the time.

Pan never crashes (or almost) on my mdk 8.1 computer..
