I found a page on the web that claims that ReiserFS can be resized on-line: http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-lvm/?dwzone=linux Near the bottom there is a Resources list with a bullet item (the 7th bullet): * ReiserFS is an excellent filesystem (especially in combination with LVM). If you're using ReiserFS, you'll want to grab the reiserfs-utils tarball, which contains a program called "reiserfs_resize" -- allowing online resizing of ReiserFS filesystems. b. -- Brian J. Murrell

Maybe reiserfs resize online now. I have not heard about that and I worked in the (Linux) storage industry as little as a month ago. I was never too interested in reiserfs though. Right now ext2 resizes online just fine. There is some finishing work that needs to be done for ext3 but it's not a lot. I just don't have the cycles to do it right now. Anyone wanting to pickup and finish the ext3 online resizing please take a look at http://ext2resize.sourceforge.net/ and contact Andreas. Regardless, ext2 online resizing is finished and working fine. Having the patches in the kernel for that would be nice. What you say Chomuel? b. -- Brian J. Murrell
