Are you logged in as root or as a user? I had similar troubles with my
SBLive under Mandrake 7.02 and it came down to permissions on /dev/dsp.

[Cooker] SBLIVE Sound in 7.1b?

2000-04-30 Thread qumak

I installed 7.1b from burnt iso's today..seems pretty nice...however:
i can't get any sound...
in kde control center it says no info available - and in HardDrake it detects
it, says Creative Labs SB Live! under Soundcard, but when i click Run
Configuration Tool, it brings up an error window:
Configuration tool error.
Can't find Harddrake module!
the needed configuration tool hasn't been found.
Check your Harddrake installation.

and when i run sounddrake
it detects it and has it selected (with -1's for each field at bottom)
when i click test I hear linus torvald's pronounciation skills, all seems good,
but when i click OK it says:
Error in play call!
sox: Can't open output file '/dev/dsp': No such device then brings up box
saying Playing a sample... but doesn't do anythingany help?
